New Announcements

 

Parent/Teacher Conference & Parent Workshop

September 25th will be designated as a Parent/Teacher Conference day.  While teachers will be reaching out to parents to schedule conferences, if you would like to meet with your child's teachers on this date, please email them stating this. 

 

In addition, we will be hosting a parent workshop from 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm.  We will have sessions ranging from PowerSchool to Substance Use & Prevention.  Please click on this LINK for additional information regarding the parent workshop including the agenda and sessions that will be offered.  We hope to see you on September 25th.

 

Fundraiser Kickoff

We have partnered with POP again this year to bring Step It Up, a crowdfunding fundraiser that helps raise money for everything our PTA does, and concludes with a "Day of Awesomeness" for all students. The fun begins on Wednesday!  Students will be bringing home their "Golden Ticket" on Wednesday.  Students that complete the Golden Ticket will receive a free snow cone on Friday, September 22nd during their lunch.

Yearbooks are on sale now and at the lowest price of the season!  Order your student's yearbook today at this LINK.  

 

 

Fall Pictures

Students will take their fall picture on Friday, September 29th.  Students will bring home information this week about pictures. 

 

6th & 7th Grade Fall Dance/Social

We will have our fall dance/social for our 6th & 7th grade students on Friday, September 29th from 3:30 - 5:30 pm in our gym. Tickets will cost $5 which will include admission to the dance, a slice of pizza, and a drink.  Tickets will go on sale next week and can be purchased during their respective lunches. 

 

 

 

PTA Announcements

 

First PTA Meeting on Tuesday -- It's a Big One!

PTA's first General Membership Meeting is Tuesday, September 19th at 6:00pm in the school library (media center). This meeting is VERY important!  We will present the proposed budget for the 2023-24 school year and membership will vote on it. For the vote to count, we need at least 20 current members to attend -- so join us!  We will keep it short and sweet. It's also a great time to meet other parents and staff, as well as learn about what PTA does at the middle school level. We strongly encourage in-person attendance, but you may participate virtually through Google Meet.

Not a Member, Yet?

Become a member -- we need YOU!  If you have not joined the FVMS Parent Teacher Association for the 2023-24 school year yet, please take a moment to join online. If you prefer paper, you can print off this form and send it, along with your annual dues (cash only, please), in a sealed envelope to school with your student and they can turn it in to their homeroom teacher. When you join, the PTA is able to utilize your annual dues to fund all of the amazing things they do for students and staff. You are not expected to volunteer. However, if you want to take the next step and get involved with PTA, we'd love to have you and you can fill out our short survey to get started. There are a lot of ways, big and small, to get involved. We will be in touch!

Donations Needed

PTA is providing Jersey Mike's and Amazon gift cards to help celebrate staff birthdays and recognize Staff of the Month. We need financial donations from Bengal families to help purchase these items. If you are able to contribute towards this staff recognition program, please visit our online PTA Spirit Shop. Thank you so much for your generosity! 

 

PS - While you are in the spirit shop, consider purchasing a PTA membership for the current school year!

Help Needed: 6th/7th Grade Social

Our first 6th & 7th grade dance/social is coming up on September 29th from 3:30-5:30pm.  We will need volunteers to help make this a success! Please be sure to complete your WCPSS volunteer registration and also select one or more slots on our sign up sheet. The more, the merrier -- come join us!

Rent the Rock

Students, families, and staff of FVMS are able to rent and decorate the spirit rock as a way to celebrate positive happenings such as birthdays, staff shout-outs, and school activities. Interested in renting the rock? Carefully read and complete the rental application. All proceeds are utilized for PTA programming.

Spirit Wear

The PTA has partnered with 1st Place Spirit Wear again this year to fufill your spirit wear needs. Items are available for ordering around the clock and are delivered right to your doorstep. They are currently having a back-to-school sale now through September 14th!  Get details and shop at 1stplace.sale/57324. A portion of all sales is donated back to FVMS through the PTA.

Below you will find dates and times to our upcoming events that take place at the beginning of the school year. More information may be found below for 6th grade summer camp and Walk your schedule.  

  • September 20th - School Wide Fundraiser Kick-off
  • September 25th - Parent/Teacher Conference Day
  • September 29th - Deadline to submit documentation for Tdap and Meningococcal vaccine (7th Grade students only) 

 

7th Grade Immunizations  

All 7th grade students must provide documentation that they have received the Tdap and Meningococcal vaccine.  We must receive this documentation by September 29th.  Failure to do so will result in your child being excluded from school.  You may bring your child’s updated shot records to the school between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm, email them to Ms. Donna Lanham at dlanham@wcpss.net or fax them to 919-670-4397.   

 

Only Medical and Religious exemptions are accepted in NC. For more information about exclusions, please visit http://www.immunize.nc.gov/schools/ncexemptions.htm
