Principal's Message for Families, 7/11/22
Sanford Creek Families,
We had a GREAT start to the 2022-2023 school year for Tracks 1,2, 3! We have the best supportive community for our learners and leaders and, once again, extend a warm Welcome! to all new Sanford Creek families! We look forward to seeing you at Open House this week.
On a personal note, I am on a journey of adoption which will have me away from school beginning Monday, July 11 through at least August 1. If leave extends past August 1, an Interim Principal will be appointed. If you are in need of support from a school administrator, please contact our Assistant Principal, Ms. Gladys Washington via email (gwashington@wcpss.net) or phone (919-570-2100).
Keep Soaring!
Tiffany Rich, Principal

School Hours, Arrival and Dismissal
Being on time for school is IMPORTANT! Our doors open at 8:45 a.m. and the tardy bell rings at 9:15am each day. Students deserve time to unpack, settle in, and feel in control of their day. Being on time for school helps set them up for success. If you carpool or walk, please arrive in time for your child to get settled into the classroom. If you arrive after the 9:15am tardy bell, you are required to sign your child in at the front office.
Dismissal begins at 3:45 p.m. with walkers, carpool, and the first round of bus dismissal. Dismissal is expected to be completed by 4:15 p.m. daily. Bus transportation timing is dependent on driver availability and routes—families are encouraged by WCPSS Transportation to use Here Comes The Bus! to assist with tracking bus routes/timing. All bus transportation is managed by the WCPSS Transportation department.
Families are encouraged to begin using their normal mode of transportation for arrival and dismissal as soon as possible to build consistent routines and enable bus drivers to predict their routes.
All afternoon pickups must be via the carpool line, a designated school bus stop, or by foot for those families who do not have access to bus transportation because they live in the school's walk zone. If your child is a confirmed walker, there must be an adult on the other side of the Granite Falls Blvd. crosswalk to recieve their child. If not, school staff will bring your child back to the front office to await pick-up.
Early pick-ups must be completed by 3:30 p.m. After 3:30 p.m., families may be asked to use the carpool line to avoid confusion as students and staff prepare for a safe and orderly dismissal.
Early Release Days
The WCPSS Board of Education has approved Early Release Days for the 2022-2023 school year. All early release days are 2-hours early to allow for Professional Development district-wide. For Sanford Creek Elementary, 2-hours early dismissal means dismissal will begin at 1:45 p.m. on days designated with a star on the student calendar.
Apply for free or reduced price meals
Unlike last year, School Meals are no longer free. In order to receive free or reduced-price meals, families need to submit a meal benefits application. Please allow 10 business days for processing.
For every student that turns in the free and reduced meals application and qualifies, the school also receives federal funds that benefit the students and teachers at the school.
If you have not completed a free or reduced-price meal application and think your child may be eligible, pick up an application in the front office or apply online. Paper applications can also be requested by calling 919-570-2100 or emailing cnsmealbenefits@wcpss.net
- Breakfast $1.50
- Lunch $3.00
