I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. It was so great to see our scholars back last week! We look forward to all the memories we will create with them throughout the remainder of the school year. 

 

As a reminder, Monday, January 16, is a holiday and Friday, January 27, is a teacher workday. Students do not report to school on either of those days.

Attendance – Student absences directly and negatively impact their ability to acquire new skills and knowledge being taught in the classroom. We recognize that COVID in addition to it being the cold and flu season, continues to negatively impact our community.  We have scholars who are accumulating a significant number of unexcused absences for various reasons. If your child has been absent, please send in a note and communicate with his/her teacher regularly.  If there are other supports you need that may be causing absences, please reach out to our social worker, Ms. Lyric Hazel, at (919) 380-3660 ext 21693, in order to be connected with any resources available for our families.

 

As a reminder, the state of North Carolina has a compulsory attendance law, and parents and guardians of students age seven to sixteen are required to send them to school. If your student is absent for an excused reason (sick), please be sure to send in appropriate documentation.

Our goal is to partner with you to ensure that your scholar has all the tools needed to be successful and is able to attend school each day.

The food bank is having a "popup market" on these dates, and I think it's a great resource if you are in need of support during this time.

Yearbook 2022-2023

We are excited to announce we will have a school yearbook for students, families, and staff to remember our 2022-2023 school year. Our yearbook will be $20. Student Chromebook Care

Families please help our scholars create healthy habits for taking care of their district-issued chromebooks and chargers.  Every issued chromebook has a cover that should not be removed.  Chromebooks should not be left on the floor, placed under heavy objects, or near food or liquids.  Please label chargers and ensure that students come to school with a fully charged chromebook daily. If you have questions regarding your students' chromebooks and proper care of the device, please contact your scholar’s teacher or our Media Coordinator, Ms. Landeros at  flanderos@wcpss.net.  Your support of this request is greatly appreciated.

Espero que todos hayan tenido un maravilloso fin de semana. ¡Fue genial ver a nuestros estudiantes de regreso la semana pasada! Esperamos todos los recuerdos que crearemos con ellos durante el resto del año escolar.
