Greetings Hodge Families! Its Principal Dorsey here with the Sunday Scoop. I hope you enjoyed the cool, fall weekend.
As we gear up for another week of remote learning, parents please be mindful that as your child is learning at home, the microphone picks up background noise and conversations. Please limit background noise as much as possible or mute your child’s microphone as needed.
Last week, the Wake County Board of Education was provided an update regarding the reopening of school campuses for students who have opted for Plan B. While the update does not commit to a specific date or details, it does provide the conditions for reopening our buildings.
Those conditions include:
- All required and recommended PPE has been distributed to schools.
- Metrics provided by local health officials and the NC Department of Health and Human Services show the rate of positive cases in Wake County has declined to 5% or lower for two consecutive weeks and supporting metrics tracked by the county are all trending downward.
The district is proposing a target date of Oct. 26 for students who have opted for Plan B to return to in-person instruction. Schools using modified calendar schedules and specific groups of children could begin sooner. No final decision has been made.
If you have chosen Virtual Academy for the semester or year, you will need to remain committed to your decision. As planning for student return takes place, we make plans based on students that are designated as Plan B or Virtual Academy.
A parent survey has been released to gather your feedback around students returning to school. The survey can be found in the parent email and text sent out on Friday, or on the district website under the parent tab, or you can find the link on our school website. Please complete the survey by Monday, September 21, by 5 p.m.
Thanks for all you do to support your child and our school community. We appreciate your partnership as we remain Hodge Road Strong!
