Sunday Scoop

September 13, 2020

Greetings Hodge Families!

Its Principal Dorsey here with the Sunday Scoop.

Thank you to all of our parents that are making arrangements to ensure that their child is logging in for live instruction every day. It is important that our students receive live instruction in every subject area. Keep in mind, if your child logs in for part of the day and receives credit for attendance, but they do not log in for each live instruction session, they are missing out on new learning. This will affect your child’s progress and therefore their overall grade. Class room teachers are uploading at least two videos for reading and math each week. This will allow students who were not able to tune in to live instruction to complete the assigned work for credit.

The technology department will host two device distributions on this Wednesday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. All remaining students with a device request will be invited to one of these two dates. All students who are picking up devices must have an invitation. This will be communicated with parents.

Students in all grade levels can receive a free breakfast and lunch from an operating location until December 31*. Please visit for a list of operating sites. Students are not required to visit their assigned school and do not have to be present to receive meals. The curbside meal service will operate Monday through Friday from 10:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Students will receive breakfast and lunch at no cost! No student ID number required to receive meals. *Or until funding is depleted.

Thank you all for your ongoing support as we continue to partner to best meet the needs of our students. We all have our own battles to fight and challenges to overcome. Let’s work together to make the best of our situation. We will continue moving forward because we are Hodge Road Strong!

Communications will begin the process of contacting Spanish-speaking families tomorrow to provide them support with updating their contact information (email addresses and phone numbers). Families will receive this message which provides them a phone number and email address they may use to connect with a Spanish-speaking customer service representative. Our customer service representative will take their information, add it to a spreadsheet and share the updated information with school data managers. If you have questions about this effort, please contact Corallie Tornow (
