Hello Raven Families,
I hope this finds you all well and you had an enjoyable holiday weekend. As a reminder, there is no school Monday. Please carefully read the following information as it contains important updates.
New for this week:
- 7th-grade families, the deadline for your Tdap & Meningitis booster is Tuesday. All 7th-grade students (in person or VA) must show proof of vaccination or they will not be able to attend school starting September 7th. You should have gotten a separate message last week if this pertains to your child. Email Ms. Chapman, 7th Grade Counselor, at rchapman@wcpss.net with any questions.
- We are seeing an increase in students coming to school with their computers not charged. Their device is a tool teachers use in their classroom and it should come to school each day charged. Please remind them to plug it in each night.
- We only have 3 weeks left until the end of the quarter. Please log into Powerschool and check on your student’s grades. Encourage your child to complete any assignments they are missing before the quarter closes. Report cards will come home after track-out.
- Parent/Teacher conferences are coming! Mark your calendars for Monday, September 27th. More information to follow.
On-going Important School Information:
- Please send your child with a water bottle if possible. Donations are needed for small disposable water cups.
- If your child is in 7th or 8th grade with Healthful Living this semester, you should have received a form from our Counseling Department. All WCPSS students in grades 7 & 8 in Healthful Living will participate in a lesson on Human Trafficking Prevention & Awareness. Students will participate in a survey to help staff in identifying high-risk students and referring them to resources. Parents wishing to opt their student out of this lesson must do so in writing to the school principal prior to the presentation of the lesson on September 14.
Covid Protocols:
- Masks are required for all students (and staff) in the building when students are present.
- Directional hallways and stairwells are STILL in place
- Water fountains are still closed off. Please send a water bottle with your student. Their water bottles can be refilled throughout the day at our water refill stations throughout the building.
- If your student is sick, please keep them home and email Ms. Shore (jshore@wcpss.net) for additional guidance. Students will need a doctor's note or a negative COVID test to return at this time.
- If your student becomes sick at school, you will be contacted and asked to pick your student up. You will sign your student out in the front office and then drive to the side of the building, labeled Care Center, to pick your student up.
- If your student is exposed to anyone with COVID-19 or diagnosed with COVID-19, please contact Ms. Shore as soon as possible.
- Phone: 919-266-8500 ext. 21132
