Weekly Update 3-13-2023
REGISTRATION: This week our counselors will be visiting 7th grade Social Studies classrooms to complete registration. Visits will occur on March 16th and 17th. Any student who is absent during this time will have an opportunity to make up for these sessions March 20th and the 21st.
During the classroom visits, our counselors will present all registration information to students for their next grade level. In addition, students will be guided on how to place these selections into PowerSchool. Please be mindful that students will only make elective choices. All core classes have been submitted by teacher recommendation.
By now every student should have received their elective course option forms from their homeroom teacher. If any student did not send their forms home to be reviewed by a parent or guardian, please reach out to either Ms. Hampton or Ms. Thomas for additional information. Otherwise, student should be returning all forms ONLY to their Science or Social Studies teachers.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to our counseling team

TUTORING EMPOWER HOUR: We will offer after school tutoring for ELA and Math grades 6-8 and Science grade 8. This is an additional support we are providing to students twice a week to get them prepared for their End of Grade Assessment. Teachers will focus on assisting students in mastering specific standards and meeting them where they are in their understanding. Tutoring will take place tentatively Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45-4:45. Please complete the green Empower Hour Tutorial participation form and have your student turn it in to their 1st period/Homeroom teacher. It is strongly recommended that students attend each session to gain the full benefit of the program. We will begin the week of March 13.
CHECK-OUTS: This is a reminder that there are no check-outs after 2:30. Also there are no messages that will be delivered to students after 2:30. Check-outs for any reason must be done prior to 2:30. Please understand that we are extremely busy during that time period preparing for dismissal and closing out the day.
TITLE I ADDITIONAL FUNDS: We need your assistance with completing the Meal Benefits Application to ensure our school continues to receive federal dollars that support all students that attend our school. Please see the message below of how you can help.
Important: Complete a Meal Benefits Application
Parents, please consider applying for meal benefits even if you believe you wont qualify. For every student completes the free and reduced lunch application and qualifies, the school receives federal funds to provide additional teachers, staff, materials, and supplies for students. Information about applying for Meal Benefits can be found at www.wcpss.net/Page/1849. Help our school continue to receive this funding by completing an application online at MySchoolApps.com prior to February 15.
