ZMS COVID-19 Update 1 3-27
Good evening Cougar Families!
It is my hope that you are utilizing this time to spend quality time with your families. In this unprecedented time, we hope for safety and health of our Zebulon GT Magnet Middle School students, faculty, staff, parents, and community. Please know that our faculty and staff miss all of our students as teaching and learning are our passion and purpose. I just wanted you to be aware of a couple of things or provide some reminders:
REGISTRATION:
8th grade- if high school registration forms were not turned in, please send a picture of the completed form to Amie Jones, school counselor at ajones14@wcpss.net
6th and 7th grade - instructions for online registration 2020-21 school year have been added to the ZMS website. There are step by step directions and also an instructional video to help you complete the registration process through powerschool. There will also be a copy of the elective form for you to reference when selecting classes for next school year. The deadline to complete online registration is Friday April 10th.
Some 7th grade students received elective forms on March 12th. These students can email a picture of the completed form to Amie Jones, School Counselor at ajones14@wcpss.net or can choose to complete the online registration process themselves following the directions on the website.
Please contact School Counselors Amie Jones or Conswalia Chambers-Banks via email with registration questions.
INTERNET & DEVICE CONTACT:
1st period teachers are calling you to gather very important information needed to ensure that we provide supports when we begin online virtual Remote Learning which will require internet access and a laptop device. In order for us to get a pulse check, we really need you to answer the phone and provide the information. If you have not spoken to your first period teacher, please email them as soon as possible. You can also complete this online survey to provide us the information that we are required to obtain. The turn around is very quick so please complete this today.
We are currently reviewing information in order to address refunds for school trips that were planned, PTA fundraiser pick-up information, registration information, the end of the quarter etc. Once we know more about the coming weeks, we will provide information to you.
REMOTE LEARNING:
To help reestablish some routines and to assist with supplemental materials please utilize the WCPSS Remote Learning Resources website. The site contains numerous lessons and activities designed to help you keep your child engaged in learning. Please note that lessons found on this site will not be graded. This is simply a place where you can find appropriate materials for your child that will supplement their learning while students are out of school. New material will be added to the website. The current resources are designed to address an immediate need during the second week of school closures. You can also visit your child’s teachers’ websites that will also provide additional supplemental resources.
