6-10-20 Senior Graduation Message

6-10-20 Senior Graduation Message:

Good afternoon Class of 2020 and your families.  I hope that you are getting excited about the events that await us this week.  It has been an honor to serve as your principal these past four years.  I wish all of you well with your future endeavors.  Remember, once you’re an IMP, you’re always an IMP.

Events of the Week:

  1. At 8 pm Wednesday, June 10th, - Cary High’s Class of 2020 Virtual Graduation Ceremony.  The link for the ceremony will be posted on the Cary High website around 6pm but will not work until 8pm.  You can also access the graduation ceremony using this link at 8 pm (https://www.wcpss.net/site/default.aspx?PageID=43069)
  2. Our Diploma Distribution Ceremony will be Thursday and Friday.  Please review the description and guidelines below for this event.
    1. Due to the high likelihood of rain, I have decided to move this event indoors.
    2. Families and graduates should wear face masks to help reduce the likelihood of contracting or spreading COVID-19.  Masks may be removed for photographs.
    3. All families should enter campus via Jim Valvano Dr. (by the stadium). Please limit your caravan to 1-2 cars per family and you MUST arrive together.
    4. Cary High staff will be present to direct traffic.  Please follow all traffic instructions carefully.  We have intentionally created a plan to keep traffic flowing as smoothly as possible.
    5. Staff members will direct you where to park.  Again, please follow all traffic instructions carefully.
    6. Please do not exit your vehicle until a staff member directs you to do so.  The graduate and their family will then proceed to the handicap ramp to the rear gym lobby, also known as the Hall of Fame Lobby.
    7. Families will progress through numbered waiting stations (some will be setup for photo opportunities) until they reach the Auditorium stage. Please note that staff members will be unable to take pictures for you and your family throughout the stations due to safety concerns.
    8. Once in the Auditorium, the family will be brought down in front of the stage and their graduate’s name will be called.  The senior will walk across the stage to receive their diploma cover. The graduate will pose with the  principal (socially distancing of course) to allow the family members to take photos before moving onto the next station. In order to keep the line moving please be sure to limit your pictures in the auditorium.Strawbridge will be present to take professional photos of this moment that can be purchased later. (More info will be sent out at a later date)
    9. The family and graduate will leave through the back of the auditorium.  The graduate will then receive their physical diploma at the next station.
    10. Families and graduates will then return to their vehicle(s) to depart from campus.  Please proceed directly to your vehicle and exit campus to allow the next family an opportunity to celebrate their graduate.
