A) ATTENTION SENIORS:  CFNC COLLEGE APPLICATION WEEK! OCT 21-25, 2019 During this week (until 5pm on 10/25/19) many NC colleges will be waiving their application fees! You must apply to the college using www.CFNC.org in order to receive the fee waiver. See below for how to access the list of colleges that are waiving their application fees. During Smart Lunch 10/21-10/25, in the Media Center Computer Lab (Rm 1027), counselors will be available each day to offer assistance with applications. We can assist with 2-year and 4-year college applications. To maximize your time during College Application Week, we recommend completing the following tasks ahead of time:

  1. Create a CFNC.org account, if you haven’t already done so. Save your username and password.
  2. Fill out the NC residency application at www.ncresidency.org. Upon completion you will be given a Residency ID #, which you’ll be required to enter on many NC college applications.
  3. Look at the list of colleges that are waiving their application fees 10/21-10/25. The list is available at this link: https://nccountdowntocollege.org/wpcontent/uploads/2019/08/nc_college_application_fees_for_c2c_2019.pdf
  4. Decide in advance which colleges you plan to apply to. The ones with a “yes” beside their name are waiving application fees 10/21-10/25. The waiver ends at 5pm on 10/25. If you submit an application after that time, you will be charged.

B) This is a reminder that all male students are required to register for the Selective Service System when they reach the age of 18.  Failure to do so is not only a violation of Federal law, but it also makes them ineligible to receive any federal loans for college or housing.  Students should access the site SSS.gov to complete their registration.

C) Our annual Food Drive will start Monday and run through December 5th. Students should bring canned food and other needed items (including cash donations) to their 1st period classes to participate in our school wide competition. The 1st period class with the most donated items will receive a catered breakfast by Student Council!

This link outlines the items that are needed the most by the Food Bank:http://www.foodbankcenc.org/site/DocServer/Food_Drive_Most_Needed_Items.pdf?docID=6561

If you would like to donate online, please see this link directly tied to Cary High: http://www.foodbankcenc.org/goto/CHS19
