September 25th WFMS Family Message
Good afternoon WFMS families,
Monday, September 26th - Teacher Workday
A reminder that tomorrow, September 26th is a teacher workday. We will see our students back on campus Tuesday, September 27th which will be a “B day.”
Interim Grades will be updated in PowerSchool by 3:00pm on Friday, September 30th. Please be sure to check your students' grades. If you need access to PowerSchool, please contact our data manager, Victoria Hughes (firstname.lastname@example.org) so that she can provide you with the necessary paperwork to gain access.
As a reminder, students who are walkers should exit our building by the gym and crosswalk area where staff are located. If you are meeting your child to walk with them, you should meet them on the hill area of the school after they cross over the crosswalk area. Students should not be exiting near carpool at the main entrance or the buses to meet someone. This creates additional traffic and unsafe conditions for students and other families. Individuals picking up in carpool should not park cars and come to the school building to pick-up your student. They will be called in order as you are lined up in carpool to exit and staff will assist them with getting into Please help us ensure the safety and security of our students and staff by abiding by the pick-up procedures we have in place.
Positive COVID Cases
A reminder if your student tests positive for COVID to please notify our data manager, Victoria Hughes (email@example.com) so the appropriate attendance codes can be entered into our system.
Students who test positive should remain home for five days from the onset of symptoms or date of the positive test (whichever is first). Recommendations and guidance for returning to school may be found on the WCPSS When to Return to School website. If you have questions about a return date from a positive case, please contact Dr. Bradford (firstname.lastname@example.org).
District expectations are that all students are completing at least 4-6 lessons per week in DreamBox. DreamBox is an adaptive, game based, online K-8 math program. It allows students that are struggling in math to work on some missing skills and allows students that are thriving to be challenged. DreamBox can be accessed both in and out of school. If you are looking for your child to work on some math skills outside of school, please encourage them to do DreamBox at home.
Please make sure your child has headphones or earbuds daily at school. We still have many students without these and they are crucial in their learning.
PTSA and Fundraiser
Our PTSA Fundraiser is well underway. We want to thank our students and families for their hard work to get information out to others over the past few days. Students who submitted ten contacts received their prizes on Friday afternoon. Currently, WFMS has raised almost $21,000 already. Please continue to help us with this fundraiser which runs until October 5th.
You can also join the PTSA by scanning the QR code below. We encourage you to join the PTSA and become active in supporting our school, staff, and students
