Good afternoon WFMS Families,
Please take a moment to review the announcements below for the week of 4/19 - 4/23 with your student.
Morning Carpool (Arrival)
When exiting a carpool in the mornings, if you are able to make a right turn onto Main Street, this will expedite your exit. We kindly ask that you do not stop to move any of the orange cones from their location in the middle of the entrance at any time before, during, or after carpool has begun, as these are in place to maintain smooth traffic flow. Pull all the way forward and when you stop along the line of traffic from the main entrance to the trailers, have your student your car to enter the building at the closest entrance. Our peak times for traffic back-up are 7:00 - 7:05 and 7:25-7:30.
The WFMS school day starts at 7:30am. Homeroom activities will be conducted between 730 - 7:40 and students should be present in their class during this time. Please make all efforts to have your child on-campus no later than 7:30am.
It is the expectation that Plan A students are on-site for in-person learning each day. If your child is out due to COVID related symptoms, quarantine, or they have tested positive for COVID-19, please contact Dr. Bradford (firstname.lastname@example.org) or call the main office 919-554-8440.
Students absent due to other reasons should contact the school’s data manager, Emily Abbott (email@example.com) with an absence note and should make-up missed assignments just as they would in a regular school year.
Returning School Materials
As we quickly approach the end of the school year, students are asked to return any school-issued materials from 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarter. These materials may include ELA texts (not including the current reading for each grade-level), math manipulatives, sheet music, instruments, scripts, music, athletic uniforms, and any other item no longer needed. ELA texts should be returned to your student’s current ELA teacher. All other items should be returned to the teacher who assigned them.
Students in Virtual Academy may bring materials to the school during regular school hours and call the front office at 919-554-8440 or ring the doorbell at the main entrance for assistance in dropping off their materials curbside.
Students who do not return school-issued materials are subject to a fee/fine added to their school account.
Outside Food and Beverages
WFMS is unable to accept outside food and beverages from vendors for students. This includes families dropping off lunch or beverages from a vendor. If your student forgets their lunch, we will accept a packaged lunch box from home or your student may get a lunch in the cafeteria for free during the 20-21 school year. Please help us ensure safe lunches for students by not bringing outside food from a vendor to the school.
Please remind your student that anyone on a WCPSS campus must maintain compliance with guidelines for wearing a face covering at all times. Face coverings should be worn over mouth and nose at all times. If your child loses or needs a face covering at any point during the school day, they will be given one by school staff.
Student Dress Code
As spring weather arrives, please take a moment to review the Student Dress Code (Board Policy 4316) with your student and ask that all WFMS adhere to these guidelines.
Virtual Academy EOG/EOC Testing
If you have a student enrolled in Virtual Academy, please use the included link to complete a survey about your student's participation in End-of- Grade/ End-of- Course testing. Please complete the survey by Monday, April 26, 2021. If you completed the survey last week, you do not need to do it again. Please note, this survey was also sent out by your student’s Homeroom teacher. If you have any questions, please reach out to our Testing Coordinator, Ms. Danyka Davis at firstname.lastname@example.org or 919-554-8440.
Spring pictures will be on Wednesday, April 28th by appointment only. A link will be shared for sign-ups. There will be no opportunities for make-up pictures this year.
Spring sports workouts are Monday-Thursday 2:30-4. (Nothing on asynchronous days) If your athlete misses a day, please send Mrs. Lassiter a message letting her know. Daily attendance is taken and must be accurate. Paperwork for winter sports only may be submitted to Mrs. Lassiter until Thursday, April 29th.
