April 11th WFMS Family Message

Good afternoon WFMS Families,

Thank you for a successful first two days back with over 600 students on our campus.  We were pleased with how the first two days went and we experienced minor issues that needed to be addressed.  We appreciate your patience and support as we navigate new territory in getting our students back to in-person learning.

Morning Carpool (Arrival)

Families should not drop their student off and exit cars prior to 7am as we are unable to provide supervision prior to that time.  Parents who arrive before 7am should wait in the car with your student until staff direct you to exit for building entry.

For morning carpool, please have your child exit the car when you stop along the main side of the carpool line near the trailers and main entry.  Staff will direct you to do so. This will keep our traffic flow moving more smoothly.

If you are able to make a right turn out of campus onto Main Street, this also assists in expediting student arrival.

Peak times for carpool are from 7:00 - 7:05 and 7:20 - 7:30.  If you are concerned about traffic back-up, please arrive between 7:05 - 7:15 and you should have no issues getting on campus and off quickly.

Afternoon (Dismissal)

Thank you for your patience as we have navigated more students on-campus in afternoon carpool this past week.  Please remember, carpool in the afternoon will extend down to the football stadium and loop back up by the main entrance each day.  To expedite carpool you should loop all the way to the stadium area down the hill by the softball field.  Do not attempt to make a U-turn by the multi-purpose field just inside the gate.  We request you do not arrive prior to 1:45 to line-up in the carpool lane.  If you arrive before 2:15, we can only allow you to line-up beside the front trailers, as we must leave an emergency entrance available in the event of an emergency.  We will have cones in place to mark the area.  Families should place the carpool tag in your window or dashboard so staff can record your student’s name for dismissal.

Student Check-out

Families should not arrive on-campus after 1:45 to check-out their student.

Outside Food and Beverages

WFMS is unable to accept outside food and beverages from vendors for students.   This includes families dropping off lunch or beverages from a vendor.  If your student forgets their lunch, we will accept a packaged lunch box from home or your student may get lunch in the cafeteria for free during the 20-21 school year.

8th Grade End of Year Recognition

We have begun to field questions regarding 8th grade end of year recognition.  We are currently working on the logistics of the drive-through event and will share the date, time, and specifics with families as soon as they are available.

Healthful Living/PE

Remind your student to wear appropriate sneakers/tennis shoes for Healthful Living as students will be participating in activities each day.  Students will not be allowed to access the locker rooms and no dressing out is required, only appropriate footwear.

Return of WFMS Instructional Resources

As more students return to the building, please have your student return any ELA novels, media center books, or other non-consumable instructional materials they have used this year.  Materials not returned at the end of the year are subject to a fee/fine being added to the student’s record.

Spring sports will restart on Monday, April 12.  Rides should be on-campus to pick student-athletes up at 4pm.

All students that have turned their paperwork into Mrs. Lassiter can attend each day. Please have your student check their email.  If they didn't receive a message from Mrs. Lassiter before Spring Break, they are not permitted to attend. Spring sports will run from April 12- April 30. Mrs. Lassiter IS NOT accepting anymore paperwork for spring sports but will accept forms for winter sports (girls/boys basketball and cheerleading) until Thursday, April 29th.

If you have questions, please email Mrs. Lassiter at
