September 15th Parent Message
Below are some important announcements from Wake Forest Middle School.
Due to the days of school we missed for the hurricane, iReady testing has been moved to September 16th and 17th. If your child is testing please encourage them to bring headphones to school. The headphones should have an input to insert into a computer (Airpods will not work). Students not participating in the testing will be provided an enrichment lesson in another classroom.
Fall Open House
Open House will be held on Thursday, September 19th from 5:00 – 6:30. This will be a free-flowing event similar to our Meet the Teacher event and Cougar Camp held in August, where parents can informally stop by their child's classrooms to meet the teachers and find out about the curriculum taught in each subject area.
The WFMS PTSA will also be hosting a “Meet the Principal” event from 4:30 - 5:00 prior to the Open House. Light snacks will be provided during the “Meet the Principal” event which will be held in the cafeteria.
EL Curriculum Support Resources
Information is available for parents about EL Education on our website. This information provides an overview of Middle School ELA for families with students in grades 6 – 8 and can be accessed by clicking below:
Back to School Dance
The Athletics Booster Club will host a “Back to School” Dance on Friday, September 27th in the cafeteria from 2:45 - 4:30. Tickets are $5 and will be sold during lunch on 9/26 and 9/27. Students attending the dance will need to be picked up no later than 5:00pm.
Announcements are made, starting at 4pm, for students to call their rides. All WCPSS and WFMS expectations and policies apply at dances. Students should arrange to be picked up within 30 minutes after a dance. If students are not picked up on time, they may lose the privilege to attend future after-school activities.
If a student owes a fee/fine for any reason to WCPSS, they will not be sold a ticket to attend any extra-curricular event, including dances, until they have paid their fee/fine.
Allergies & Snacks
Students in our school often have allergies due to specific foods. Many are life threatening. We ask that you refrain from sending snacks to be consumed in a classroom, caused by specific foods (e.g. peanuts), as they could cause a potential health concern for other students.
Agendas & Smart Block
Smart Block has officially started and students without agendas are required to stay with their core 1 teacher if they do not have their agenda. If your child has not purchased an agenda yet, you may do so online by accessing the link on the parents tab of the WFMS website located at https://www.wcpss.net/domain/12204. If the agenda is purchased or has been purchased online, your student may pick it up in the main office. Agendas are also being sold in the front office for $5.00. Your child is ultimately responsible for their agenda and if they lose it, they will need to purchase another one.
