7th Grade Announcement - Student Immunizations
Parents, please check with your child's pediatrician to make sure they've received the required 7th grade shots, Tdap & meningococcal. Per NC State Statute, every 7th grader must provide proof of vaccination to the school. Documentation of immunizations must be provided to the school as soon as possible in order to avoid student exclusion from school.
If you have questions regarding your child’s status, please call the main office at 919-554-8440 and dial extension 22437 for our data manager, Michelle Beverly, or email email@example.com.

Please indicate that the payment is a donation. Any donation will be greatly appreciated to help send students who cannot pay part or any of this expense. In order for a student to be counted present for the day they must attend at least ½ of the instructional day. Any time your student is absent or is not here for ½ the instructional day (including being checked out early or arriving late on campus) please send in a doctor, dental, etc., note or written note from parent/guardian in order for it to be an excused absence or late arrival. WFMS PTSA Spirit Night
The PTSA will host the first Spirit Night of the 19-20 school year this Thursday, September 12th at Moe's Southwestern Grill, located in Wakefield Commons starting at 5:00pm. Please visit with us on Thursday night, when a portion of the proceeds will be donated back to our school. Show your school spirit and support WFMS!
Fall Open House
Open House will be held on Thursday, September 19th from 5:00 – 6:30. This will be a free-flowing event similar to our Meet the Teacher event and Cougar Camp held in August, where parents can informally stop by their child's classrooms to meet the teachers and find out about the curriculum taught in each subject area. The WFMS PTSA will also be hosting a “Meet the Principal” event from 4:30 - 5:00 prior to the Open House. Light snacks will be provided during the “Meet the Principal” Event in the cafeteria.
Agendas & Smart Block
WFMS Student Agendas are on sale for $5.00. The agendas can be purchased online by accessing the link on the parents tab of the WFMS website located at https://www.wcpss.net/domain/12204. This is a required item for all students and is school specific with information needed for Smart Block each day.
We will continue to sell agendas during lunches next week. Students who order online can pick their agenda up during lunch or in the main office with permission and a pass from their teacher.
When Smart Block officially begins on September 16th, students without an agenda will remain in their Core 1 for Smart Block until they have their agenda. If a student loses their agenda or leaves it at home any day during the year, they will remain in core 1 for Smart Block each day until their agenda is with them.
Students Leaving Campus After School & The Factory
Parents of bus riders and car riders, we have noticed some students dismissing with our walkers and leaving campus, only to come back to get on their late bus or car ride. If a student leaves campus, they should have arranged a pick-up by the parent at the location there are going to and not come back to campus to access school transportation
Once extra-curricular events and athletics begin, students who leave campus and return to attend an event will be required to wait until the general public is allowed to enter the event. Once a student leaves an after-school activity or event, there is no re-entry to the event.
In addition, The Factory reached out to the school last week regarding the behavior of students who left campus and went to The Factory on Friday, August 30th after school, where they hung out for a lengthy period of time without participating in any activities or purchasing anything from the vendors. We were notified there were many negative and disrespectful behaviors. Parents should be aware if their child is going to The Factory after school and should review the policies and procedures for The Factory and appropriate behavior. We have been informed students not following the polices and guidelines for their business will be asked to leave, have security contacted, or trespassed from their property.
Be advised WFMS will be enforcing a “No-Go List” this year for all after-school athletic events, arts events, and dances. If a student has an outstanding fee or fine on their account, they will be required to pay this fee or fine before they will be allowed to attend the after-school event as a spectator. If you have any questions regarding if your child owes a fee or fine, you can contact Ms. Ellington at email@example.com.
