August 22 - Cougar Camp/Meet the Teacher Event

We are so excited to see everyone tomorrow (August 22nd) for Cougar Camp and “Meet the Teacher.”  When you arrive lists will be posted throughout the building with your child’s homeroom teacher.  You will need to check the list and report to homeroom to pick up your child’s schedule and begin the event.  Please review the information below regarding the event to help you navigate throughout the day.

6th Grade students with last names beginning with A-L should attend from 10:00am – 11:30am.

6th Grade students with last names beginning with M-Z should attend from 1:00pm – 2:30pm.

“Meet the Teacher” will be hosted for all 7th/8th grade students from 4:00pm – 5:00pm

There will be an opportunity to visit classrooms, meet teachers, counselors, and administration, get acquainted with other 6th graders, and participate in activities to make the transition to middle school as seamless as possible.  Parents should plan to attend in order to meet teachers, counselors, and administration, sign-up for PowerSchool access, discuss transportation, join the PTSA, Athletics, and Arts Boosters, and much more.

7th and 8th graders are encouraged to attend for an informal open house from 4:00pm – 5:00pm.  Homeroom lists will be posted at various places in the building for students and parents to see where they should start their visit.  Students will be able to pick-up paperwork for the start of the school year and their schedules in their homeroom classes. Students will then be able to walk the building and find their classrooms and introduce themselves briefly to teachers and other staff.  Tables will be set-up for parents to sign-up for PowerSchool (if needed), access additional Transportation information beyond what was provided in the homeroom packet, and sign-up for PTSA, Athletics, and Arts Boosters.

Student agendas are a required item for students this year and must be purchased through the school for $5.  This are WFMS specific agendas and have a Smart Block component needed for daily usage.  In addition to the items listed on the supply list, all students will be required to purchase a school agenda from WFMS.

These are available for purchase online at https://osp.osmsinc.com/wakenc.  Parents must create a username and password which can be re-set at any time.  You must set-up your student’s profile with their ID number or your phone number. Locate our state, district, school category and school.  Go to the activity, AG123-137, entitled SCHOOL AGENDA.  Payment can be made with VISA or MasterCard.  There will be a 4% processing fee, charged by OSP.  Review and submit your payment.  If everything goes through correctly, you will receive a "Thank You" confirmation order number.  Please make a copy for your records and bring with you to Cougar Camp on Thursday, August 22nd to pick-up the agenda.  If you have any difficulty or need assistance with the process, please contact the OSMS support team at support@osmsinc.com or 703-378-8299, ext. 204.

They will be on sale in the cafeteria for $5 cash/check only.  If you have pre-purchased your agenda, you may pick it up in the cafeteria, also.

Students trying out for fall sports may submit completed athletic packets tomorrow at Cougar Camp/Meet the Teacher to Ms. Lassiter in the gym.  Students will also need to provide a copy of their most recent report card to verify eligibility.

A formal “Open House” event will occur on September 19th from 5:00pm – 7:00pm.
