Good afternoon WFMS families,
Cell Phone EOG Policy
As we prepare for EOGs, we want to make you aware of the testing policies in place this year regarding electronic devices. The North Carolina Department of Instruction has explicitly stated that "Cell phones are not permitted in testing sites unless there is a medical need.” We encourage students to leave cell phones and other electronic devices such as iPads and Smart Watches at home during the week of testing. If those items are on campus, they will be collected and stored in a secure location outside of the classroom during testing to avoid the potential for a misadministration and need for retest. We want to get this information out to our families as soon as possible for planning purposes.
8th grade Promotion Ceremony and End of Year Celebration
Our 8th grade Promotion Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 10th at 6pm. Due to our space limitations in the gym and fire code, each student will be given two tickets to the event. While we recognize this may impact some families, we are required to follow the fire code for our building capacity. Families may work among themselves to trade tickets if they choose, but the school will not have additional tickets to distribute.
We will provide a live stream for additional family members or friends to view the ceremony. The link will be shared on the date of the event. More information will be coming home with students soon.
A dance will be held on Thursday, June 5th from 5pm - 7pm. More details are coming soon about this event. Only Wake Forest MS 8th grade students will be allowed entry and students must be picked up within 20 minutes of the end of the dance.

Manage Your Time: Pacing Matters
Running out of time can be stressful. Practicing pacing helps your child get through every question without rushing.

Test Tip of the Week:
⏱️ Don’t spend too long on one question. Move on and come back if needed—every point counts!
PTSA Updates
WFMS parents, click HERE for an important message about PTSA leadership for next school year. If we do not have parents volunteer to take PTSA leadership roles next year, many of our PTSA sponsored events and programs may not occur. Roles for large and small time commitments are available. Step up to make a real difference at your child's school!
Our 8th grade dance will be on Thursday, June 5th from 5-7pm in the gym. Students will get to enjoy an evening of dancing and fun with their friends! PTSA will provide pizza, chips, a cookie, and water for all students attending. We need parent volunteers to help chaperone and serve food. This will be the last opportunity to volunteer this year! Sign up to volunteer HERE
Our final PTSA General Membership meeting will be on Tuesday, June 10 at 5:45, immediately before the 8th grade promotion ceremony in the gym. Join us to vote on our summer budget and next year's slate of nominees for PTSA board.

Counselors’ Corner
May 21st is the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, more commonly known as Diversity Day. Wake Forest Middle School community is blessed by having so many different cultures, beliefs, and backgrounds amongst our students and families. We all benefit from these varied experiences and perspectives every day, and the counseling department would like to highlight embracing this great opportunity our educational community has to learn from others. This day of recognition around these topics reminds us how we can grow as individuals by learning to respect and value other people’s perspective, faith, and norms. When we have the opportunity to meet with distinct others, it leads to greater understanding and connection. This insight can lead to more peace in our learning environment and also for the larger world. Simple ways to participate in expanding your own and your family’s awareness could include the following: watching an international film, learning another language, visiting a museum or exhibit centered on another culture, volunteering with an organization working to advance respect for diversity, and more. Please find more information about this here.
