Good afternoon WFMS families,
Teacher Appreciation Spirit Week
As we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week this week (5/5 - 5/9), we invite our students to celebrate our staff with Spirit Week and dress up each day.
-
Monday: Wear your teacher's favorite color
-
Tuesday: Thankful Tuesday: Write a teacher a thank you note-paper, card, or email
-
Wednesday: Dress like your favorite teacher
-
Thursday: Hats off to teachers: Wear a hat today!
-
Friday: WFMS Spirit Wear (wear red, white, blue)
We are very thankful for all our amazing staff who invest in students each day. Please help us celebrate them this week by sharing an encouraging word when you reach out or see them for all the hard work they do each day.
Student Expectations
As we approach the final weeks of the school year and enjoy the arrival of spring, we understand that students are excited for the upcoming summer break. However, we still have about four important weeks remaining, including End-of-Grade (EOG) testing.
We are asking families to speak with their students about maintaining high standards for behavior. Please remind them that violations of WCPSS Student Code of Conduct and WFMS Student Expectations can lead to disciplinary action, including possible suspension. Additionally, with the warmer weather, we ask for your help in ensuring students continue to follow the Student Dress Code.
Thank you for your ongoing support and attention to these important matters. Together, we can finish the school year on a positive and successful note!
8th grade Promotion Ceremony
Our 8th grade Promotion Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 10th at 5pm. Due to our space limitations in the gym and fire code, each student will be given two tickets to the event. We will provide a live stream for additional family members or friends to view the ceremony. The link will be shared on the date of the event.
Preparing for the EOG at Home
Use Test Tools Wisely: Students can highlight, eliminate answers, and use a calculator in some sections. Practicing with the tools ahead of time builds confidence.

🛠️ Use the tools provided! Knowing how and when to use them is part of smart test-taking.
PTSA Updates
WFMS parents, click HERE for an important message about PTSA leadership for next school year. If we do not have parents volunteer to take PTSA leadership roles next year, many of our PTSA sponsored events and programs may not occur. Roles for large and small time commitments are available. Step up to make a real difference at your child's school!
Next week (May 5-9) is Teacher Appreciation Week. Please consider writing a note or email expressing your appreciation to your child's teachers. PTSA will be honoring our entire staff next week with several special treats.
ENDS THIS WEEKEND! Donation Drive at The Giving Tree:
During the week of Monday, April 28th through Saturday, May 3rd, we are proud to be partnering with The Giving Tree to hold a Donation Drive to earn money for our school. Last year, we earned $1600 by participating with The Giving Tree! Participation is simple--all you need to do is grab a paper bag or box and fill it with like-new home goods that you no longer use. Drop off your donations during the week of April 28th at The Giving Tree at 839 South Main Street in Wake Forest. They accept donations Monday-Saturday from 10:30-4:30. Our school will get DOUBLE Donation Credit during the entire week of our donation drive! Here is a short list of items that The Giving Tree currently needs:
Summer home decor including decorative pillows and wreaths
Summer or neutral wall art
Wall mirrors
Lamps with shades
Small Furniture
Garden décor, pots, tools, etc.
The Giving Tree is a 501c3 non-profit, so when you make a donation, you will receive a tax receipt for your donation. This is a great way for you to clean out your house, give back to the community and earn money for our school! Click the link for all the details: Giving Tree Information

Counselors’ Corner
Next week is TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK. The counseling department would like to share our deep gratitude for the teachers of our school and their tireless dedication to helping our students learn and grow. We feel lucky to team with them every day!
As the end of year approaches, there is more attention in classrooms on end of grade testing. Some students might begin to feel stress about these tests in advance. Families can help their child(ren) by discussing their concerns with them and collaborating with them on preparing in positive ways. Some examples of preparation in advance could include helping them to set up a good sleep schedule, providing positive reinforcement to help build their confidence, and more. Please check out Wake County Public School System’s parent guide for end of year testing here.
