November 15th WFMS Family Message
***Este mensaje se puede ver en español haciendo clic AQUI.***
Good afternoon WFMS families,
Cell Phones
A thank you to all our students who continue to follow school and classroom expectations regarding cell phones. As a reminder, students are not allowed to have their phone out during any class period and may not use it in the hallway, bathroom, or classrooms. The only time a phone is allowed to be used is during the student’s lunch time. As shared in our cell phone contract at the beginning of the school year, students who are in violation are subject to their phone being taken by staff for the duration of the school day. If the phone is taken, it is the responsibility of the student to pick it up from the staff member or main office at the end of the school day. If repeated violations occur, a meeting may be scheduled with the family to discuss a phone plan for your student in the building.
In addition, families and students are reminded that WCPSS and WFMS are not responsible for stolen AirPods, headphones, or cell phones. Bringing such devices to school is done at the own risk of the student. Please remind your student about this expectation and avoid texting or calling during the school day. If you need to reach your student with a message, you can call the WFMS main office at 919-554-8440.
Tardy Sweeps
This week we conducted the first of a series of random tardy sweeps for each grade level. During these tardy sweeps, students still in the hallway after the tardy bell rang met with an administrator and were assigned lunch detention. Please encourage your student to move quickly in the hallway and avoid loitering so they can get to their classes on time.
Fall Arts and Literacy Night
Thank you to all our families and students who came out to support our Fall Arts and Literacy Night. We had close to 200 people in attendance for the event. Thank you to all our staff who organized the event and shared literacy strategies with families and the students who performed, submitted artwork or Spanish assignments to be displayed, and served as ambassadors for the event.
Honor Roll
Congratulations to all our students who made the “A” or “A/B” Honor Rolls for the 1st quarter. 101 students made “A” honor roll and 343 made “A/B” honor roll. Students were recognized by our PTSA earlier this week with a small treat during lunch. Encourage your students to work hard during quarter 2 so they can be a part of our next celebration for the honor roll.
