Mustang News for September 6, 2020
Good Afternoon Mustang Families,
What a great first week of full schedules! Students did a wonderful job attending classes and staying engaged with learning. We know the day can be long and we encourage students to take breaks along the way. The grade level exploratory enrichment periods (formerly known as grade level lunches) are wonderful opportunities to take a break from the screen. Students are welcome to use the time to go outside and get moving, do a hobby or just relax.
As a reminder, all schools will be closed on Monday, September 7, for the Labor Day holiday. There will be no Google Meets for students to attend and our hope is students enjoy a day of no screen time.
If you have not yet picked up your ELA and math materials, as well as needed art supplies, please come to Martin between 7:30 and 3:30 Tuesday through Friday. You can also come between 5:00 and 7pm on Tuesday. It is important that all students have workbooks and their novels for the quarter.
We will host a Virtual Meet the Teacher event Monday, September 14 through Thursday, September 17. Final plans are being ironed out and the times will be published this week. Because the event will be virtual, families have the flexibility to schedule multiple meets in a day or spread them out over the course of the week.
Are you interested in being part of the National Junior Honor Society? Please take a moment to complete the NJHS Interest Survey. This is not the application and students must be logged into WakeID to complete the survey. Ms. Bohnam-West and Ms. Dalessio will contact those interested in becoming a member of NJHS. The Interest Survey must be completed by Friday, September 11, 2020.
Mark your calendars for Monday, September 28, 2020. We will host a school wide Parent Coffee at 8am and 4pm. The topic and meet code will be communicated in next week’s Mustang News.
As a reminder, all 7th grade students are required to have a TDAP Booster as well as the Meningococcal Vaccine and Martin is required to have a copy of the vaccination on file. The 30 day grace period for the required immunizations has been extended by Governor Cooper due to COVID-19 and begins on October 1. Please send a copy of the proof of vaccine to Ms. Sepulveda at esepulveda@wcpss.net.
A note from the PTA:
The first PTA General Membership Meeting of the year will be held on September 23rd at 5:30. Virtual meeting information coming soon!
