Principal Peckham's Weekly Message
Greetings Martin Middle School families!
I hope you’ve all enjoyed your weekend. It was a spirited week last week and a real joy to see so many students dress up and participate in the different days. I hope they all enjoyed the Fall pep rally and recognizing our fall athletes.
Below are a couple of reminders and calendar items to prepare your for this week.
We’ll start with another reminder that we are currently in the collection process for any students who are wanting to participate in the yearly Reflections program. The PTA's REFLECTION program is a national program that encourages students to explore their creativity through any of the following 6 areas: Visual Arts, Dance/Choreography, Photography, Film Production, Literature and Music Composition. The theme this year is LOOK WITHIN or MIRA DENTRO. You can get student entry forms with directions and flyers from the office and also by the reflections display which is located next to the Media Center. Students can also speak to any arts teacher and they can help with ideas and to register. Entries are due by October 25th! They can be turned in to the front office, or the Media Center bin- make sure students have their name on it. Good Luck and get creative!"
Annual Fall Fundraiser This Week!
This is Martin MS PTA’s only fundraiser of the year and it is NO FUSS. No selling coupon books or wrapping paper, just donations! Every contribution, big or small, will be put straight to use for our teachers and students. Our goal is $30,000 and this covers all of the awesome programs, celebrations, and teacher stipends, and materials resources as well as provide funds for new technology equipment, and the new upgrades in motion for the Media Center, gym, and auditorium. There are 2 ways to make your donations:
1. Give online at https://martinmiddleschool.memberhub.store
2. Check: Payable to Martin PTA (drop off at carpool, office, or send with student)or Mail to Martin Middle School PTA, 1701 Ridge Road, Raleigh, NC 27607
To get the students involved in the fundraiser excitement, we will be having a “Penny War” all week between grade levels. All week students can bring in their change to lunch as they compete to win the coveted prize of free seating for their whole grade level. Students can bring in pennies and dollars for their own grade to receive positive points, and silver coins to put into other grade’s bins as negative points.
There will be raffle drawings each day at lunch as well for all students that make a donation to the fundraiser.
Again, this competition is going all week, and we are so grateful for the way our community rallies behind and supports so many of our programs, providing invaluable supplies and resources. We appreciate it all so much!
