Principal Peckham's Weekly Message
Greetings Martin Middle School families!
What a fantastic first week of school! There has been lots of laughing and smiling as we settle into our routines for the school year.
With the Labor Day weekend upon us, I only have a few reminders and calendar items for next week’s short week, but wanted to make sure you had these reminders before the weekend!
Want to request a schedule change?
The Semester 1 Elective Change period ends on Tuesday, September 3rd at 2:30 p.m. Students can request changes to electives in Quarters 1 and 2. Elective Change forms will be available in Student Services and during lunch. Students should only request changes if their schedule reflects a class that was not chosen as a primary or alternate. All other requests will be denied. Forms MUST have a parent signature in order for change to be considered.
Make sure you are in the loop of communication!
Join Memberhub for all online communication with the PTA. Martin uses the online tool MemberHub to keep you informed and engaged with your school community. Memberhub lets you receive weekly newsletters from the PTA with important updates, pay for PTA Memberships online, check the school calendar and receive reminders, and sign up for volunteer opportunities or needed items and receive reminders. To join, click on "PTA" under the "Parent Tab" on the MMS website. You could also go directly to https://martinmiddleschool.memberhub.com/hub/Everyo81346."
Sept.2 Monday: No School
Next week we will begin our tryouts for Fall Sports and have our Meet the Teacher Night- providing you face time with each of your student’s 7 teachers.
Sept.3-4 Fall Sports tryouts for Football, Soccer, Volleyball from 2:30-4.
Sept 3-5 Cheerleading tryouts 2:30-4:30 (Extra Day of Tryouts to include Thursday)
***All Fall sport participants need to have their physical and athletic participation packets completed or will not be able to tryout.
Thursday, Sept 5 - Meet the Teacher Night at 6pm. Build in some time to make sure you find a parking spot. You will need to know your student’s homeroom number because that is where you will begin the night. (We will have master lists posted just in case.)
PTA Meeting 5:00-- In the cafeteria- great way to ensure you get a great parking spot. Some remarks from the Principal and Counseling Dept. as well as forecasting some of the work and projects from the PTA this year.
That concludes my voicemail for next week. Thank you for everyone’s enthusiasm and patience as we got the school year off to a successful start! Enjoy the three day weekend- see you bright and early Tuesday morning!
