Principal Peckham's Weeklyl Message
Greetings Martin Middle School families!
What a rainy, but productive, week it has been! I hope you all are headed into some fun plans for the weekend. I don’t have much on the calendar next week, but we do have several reminders to provide as we head into the end of February.
Love your Library!
Thank you so much to everyone who purchased a new book or gift card for our Media Center during our Love the Library Week. Ms. Carr receive over 60 of the 97 books she requested, and enough gift cards to cover the remaining items.
Thank you so much for showing your LOVE for our library and providing these resources to our students.
From Counseling and Student Services:
Reminder that ALL STUDENTS should log into THEIR PowerSchool account weekly. Students should see their homeroom teacher if they need to reset their password. All students will use THEIR PowerSchool account in March to register for Elective courses.
Federal ESSA Letter:
Earlier this week you hopefully received a letter home in response to federal guidelines (Every Student Succeeds Act). This letter is just for your infomation and in case it didn’t make it home in bookbags, a copy has been uploaded below.
Reminder to stay home until fever free!
With the peak of flu season upon us, our School Nurse would like to remind everyone that students must be fever free for 24 hours without medication, before returning to school per WCPSS policy. If diagnosed with the flu, please provide a doctor’s note with a return date when your child comes back to school. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping all of our students as healthy as possible.
Calendar Dates to remember:
Upcoming Parent Information Session:
Rising 9th Grade High School Information Sessions will be held on Thursday, February 28th at 7:45 a.m. AND 6:00 p.m. Sessions will include a general overview of high school graduation requirements, teacher recommendations, and 9th grade course selections. Students received flyers in their homeroom this week. Sign ups to attend a session are available at https://martinstudentservices.weebly.com/class-of-2023.html
March 8- Mustang Madness!!! (Doors open at 5:30, events start at 6:00)
This is our only BIG RED BOOSTER fundraising event of the year and all the proceeds raised at this event go to support all of the awesome arts and athletic teams and groups within the school. The admission is $5 and you will get to see all of our performing arts program areas perform, a staff vs. student basketball game, and staff vs. student “rodeo ball”. There are raffle drawings starting at all 3 lunches next Friday as we build momentum for the event. Make sure you mark it on your calendars!
That is all I have for your this week.
We’ll see you bright and early Monday morning! Have a great weekend!
