Principal Peckham's Weekly Message

Greetings  Martin Middle School families!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful week and enjoyed their Valentine’s Day with loved ones. Please know that I absolutely LOVE getting to work with your students each day. I wanted to send this week’s newsletter out a little bit earlier this week to provide everyone another reminder about your opportunity to show some “Love for our Library”.

Ms. Carr has created a wishlist of items that would really enhance our offering in the Media Center. Any families that would like to show our library program some love are encourage to visit the link below and find an item to purchase as a donation.  On behalf of myself, Ms. Carr, and all of the students who take advantage of our Media Center, we thank you for your donation.

I want to share my gift list Registry with you View my gift list Registry:

FYI- Our wonderful receptionist, Ms. Tari Bullock, will be out on a leave of absence for 6 weeks so please bare with us as we reshuffle her responsibilities. You may be greeted by new faces, so please be patient as you may be required to show ID when you arrive to check out a student (where Miss Tari was very familiar with you). We hope that there is no drop in service, but please understand that anytime a new person is filling in, what was assumed or routine before is not always transferred. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to having Ms. Bullock back at the end of March.

Exciting Early Release Activities Today!

In case you missed it, we took full advantage of the Early Release today and with the help of our PTA Fall Fundraiser donations, and fabulous Cultural Arts Liaison-Julia Mastropaolo, we had a packed agenda of amazing experiences for our students today, including guest speakers such as: Mary J. Kelly- presenting “Midnight Train: Harriet Tubman” (7th and 8th graders) and Donna Washington, sharing “From Anansi to Zeus” (6th graders).

The day also include some unique enrichment and remediation opportunities, and community building activities. Be sure to ask your student about their guest speaker today as we had some real rock stars in the house!
