Principal Peckham's Weekly Message
Good evening Martin Middle School families!
I hope you all enjoyed relaxing weekends. We are headed into a short week this week and so today I only have have a few brief announcements and calendar items.
Collecting linens for “Sweeter Dreams”!
On behalf of the Martin PTA and Builders Club, we are putting out a call for donations! Social workers in Wake County estimate approximately 5,000 students in our community are sleeping on floors or sharing crowded beds with others. The Green Chair Project is a volunteer-driven, non-profit organization working with WCPSS social workers and guidance counselors to promote stability and academic success by ending child bedlessness through a program called Sweeter Dreams. To date, Sweeter Dreams has provided 1,721 twin beds to Wake County school aged children (Pre-K to12th grade) - but they need your help! Please consider donating new (preferably gender neutral), twin-sized sheet sets, comforters, bed in a bags, and/or mattress protectors. Drop off donations in the Martin front office before end of day November 27th. New beds will be set-up and delivered to WCPSS students by mid-December! Because of you, children in Wake County will have a place to rest their head and a space to call their own! When you donate items to the Sweeter Dreams program, you give a child in our community far more than a piece of furniture; you give them dignity and a chance to feel safe, taken care of, and comforted! Want to learn more about the project or Green Chair organization? Please visit the PTA MemberHub for more details. Again, any donation of new twin sheets, comforters, or matress pads can be dropped off at the main office or student services until Nov. 27th. Thank you!
Tuesday - November 20th - Early Release 11:45 (Students will be dismissed early so please plan for pick-up and/or bus arrival earlier than normal.)

That concludes my updates for the week. I hope everyone has a wonderful week this week and holiday with loved ones and quality time. We’ll see you bright and early tomorrow!
