Principal Peckham's Weekly Message
Good afternoon Martin Middle School families..
The following includes some reminders and information about the events for the rest of this week.
Thank you again to all of our families for your contributions to our Fall fundraiser. We raised over $35,000 between the Penny Wars and individual donations and we are so thrilled to get to continue to support some the amazing programs and opportunities at our school, while also enhancing our technology in the classrooms. Over last weekend, our 7th grade families brought in another almost $3K, so Ms. Thompson pulled her “prank” at lunch last Friday and will now have to wear a crazy costume and dance at lunch for her students later this week.
We are so grateful to all of your for your support and hope to provide you some pictures periodically throughout the year so that you can see your donations in action in our building.
This afternoon, we have a HOME game for both our Girls Volleyball and Soccer against Ligon MS so if you don’t have plans, please come out and cheer for our Mustang athletes. If you didn’t know, our girls soccer team is undefeated and playing for the conference title. Good luck to them and Go Mustangs!
You can also grab some dinner and come back for our Jazz Band concert tonight at 7:00pm. Admittance to the concert is free, and you will be amazed at the talents of our Jazz band students.
2nd Quarter Starts Wednesday!
Today was the last day of Quarter 1, so tomorrow in homeroom students will receive and follow their Quarter 2 schedule. It is so hard to believe that we are a quarter of the way through the year and we look forward to building on our great start for the rest of the first semester. Teachers are continuing to finalize grades, and our report cards should be ready to distribute and bring home next week.
As I know you are aware, tomorrow is Halloween. We know students are excited, however please know that we are discouraging any costumes. Students are not allowed to wear any hats, head-covering, masks or face paint as a part of the normal dress code, and that will all apply tomorrow.
Football game Home vs. Ligon @ 4:00. All of our home athletic events are $5 unless you have a Big Red pass.
Friday: Club picture day! If your students are involved in a club, they will be receiving a pass from their teacher/advisor to come get their picture at a specific time on Friday.
WCPSS Magnet Fair!
This Saturday is the Magnet Fair at SouthEast Raleigh HS. For our 8th grade families who want to explore some the magnet HS options. The event is from 9-12 and there is an opportunity to explore the options and visit with staff from each school.
That concludes my mid-week message.
See you bright and early tomorrow!
