Principal Peckham's Weekly Message

Good afternoon Martin Middle School families.

I so hope that all of our families have safely navigated the effects of Hurricane Florence and have had minimal disruption of power or mobility during our time away these past 5 days.  I am happy to report that Martin MS looks good--with only a few leaks, and we have been able to successfully address them so that we are ready to welcome all of our students back.

Not knowing exactly what Wake County’s decision will be for Tuesday, I wanted to communicate a few calendar updates for this week so that our families can be as informed as possible.

Calendar items:

First, the 6th Grade Social Mixer schedule for tomorrow, has been rescheduled.  It will now be next Tuesday, Sept. 25th from 2:30-4:30. Students can still register all this week during lunch. Cost to attend is $5.

Wednesday, Sept. 19th - School Holiday. No students or staff will be at school that day.

Friday, Sept. 21st  from 6:30 p.m.- 8:30 - 7th & 8th Grade Dance.  Cost is $5 and students can come with cash to buy snacks and drinks. This is a casual event, and school dress code and student behavioral expectations apply. Parents, please keep in mind that for the dance, your students will all be dropped off at the morning carpool drop-off location.  We are sure they are getting a little stir-crazy, so hopefully being able to look forward to this social event with their friends may make it a little easier.

Finally, we also want to remind all 7th grade parents that the deadline to present your updated immunization records is quickly approaching.  All 7th grade students must have updated immunization records into our Student Services by Sept. 29th, or they will not be able to continue to attend school until they do so. Again, that due date is Sept. 29th- but please get those in as soon as possible.

That is all I have for you at this time. Have an enjoyable and safe rest of the afternoon and evening and hopefully we will see you bright and early tomorrow morning.
