Principal Peckham's Weekly Message
Greetings Martin Middle School families!
Thank you to everyone who was able to come out to Meet the Teacher Night last week. It was wonderful to have you all in the building, and I hope you got some meaningful information from your teachers. We also had a fantastic turn out at the PTA meeting, which we hope to continue at our November 29th meeting as well.
As we settle into our third week of school and continue with fall sports team practices this week, we only have 3 quick calendar items to bring to your attention for this week.
First, please be informed that our Fall Picture Day will be on Tuesday, Sept. 11th in the auditorium. Homeroom teachers will be informing students of the schedule for pictures, but all students will come down to the auditorium for pictures that day at designated times.
Second, we also want to remind all 7th grade parents that the deadline to present your updated immunization records is quickly approaching. All 7th grade students must have updated immunization records into our Student Services by Sept. 29th, or they will not be able to continue to attend school until they do so. Again, that due date is Sept. 29th- but please get those in as soon as possible.
Third, if you are a parent of a current AIG (Academically or Intellectually gifted) student at Martin, there will be a parent meeting on Friday at 7:30 in the Media Center. This will just be an information session conducted by our AIG Coordinators, Ms. West and Ms. Harrington and is a great opportunity to get more information about the SSA process, how AIG is delivered at Martin, or get any other questions that you may have answered.
Finally, a quick note about carpool. Everything is falling into routine in regards to carpool. Please remember that students should not be dropped off on Horton St.- we expect all students and parents to participate in the carpool line. Having parents in the mix of that carpool portion who are not entering the line causes a disruption to the flow, and the carpool line moves more quickly than it appears. Please follow procedures so that we can ensure student and driver safety.
That is all I have for this evening’s message. Have a wonderful evening and we will see you bright and early tomorrow morning.
Lacey Peckham, Principal
