Principal Peckham's Weekly Message

I hope you all were able to relax and enjoy the weather this weekend with your families!

Coming up this week:

Make-Up picture day on Tuesday!

 If your student was not satisfied with their fall picture or were absent during our first opportunity, please plan to have them take their make-up picture Tuesday.

 

Book Fair October 20th-30th!

The Martin MS Book Fair will be running in the Media Center all week. A flyer and order form should have come home with students on Friday, with details and website ordering information. Students will be visiting with their Language Arts classes throughout the week and can make purchases and/or browse then. Our annual Family Night will be Thursday from 5-6:30pm and there will be snacks and a ghost story session with retired and revered Martin Teacher, Mr. Hale. Come out and join us for this family event! Proceeds from our Book Fair event will help fund Martin Media Center book and media purchases.

 

November through February- High School Information coming!

An early heads up for our 8th grade students and families that as we move into November, we will have on-going information about Early College High Schools and Magnet School HS programs throughout the county. Tonight I will share a bit about Broughton HS.

Broughton Global Studies Magnet High School, which is an International Baccalaureate World School, will be hosting several events for prospective Broughton base and magnet students and their families. On November 15 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM, there will be an Open House that will include guided tours of the building and opportunities to meet with staff members, parents, and students. Also, please visit the Broughton website to find more information about upcoming school tours during the school day as well as about the Broughton Global Showcase that will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 on January 17.

 

Additional calendar items for the week include:

Monday, 7:40 am-  Early College Information Session for 8th grade parents

All week we will have Early Colleges visiting with students during lunch, and at this Monday morning session, Ms. Moore will give parents an overview of the information. The schools that will have student sessions this week are North Wake College and Career Academy, Early College of Health and Sciences and Vernon Malone.

Wednesday, 8:00-9:00am - 6th grade parent coffee  in the Media Center

This is an informal chat with our Assistant Principal, Mr. Kimbro and counselor, Mrs. Clark.

Thursday, 7:00 pm.Chorus & Orchestra Concert

This is our first concert of the year! It will be a joint concert for orchestra and chorus beginning at 7:00 pm. Come out and enjoy the gifts and talents of our choral and orchestra students- Admission is free!
