Principal's Weekly Message 10-18
Weekly Message 10-16-2019
Hello this is Kathryn Hutchinson, principal at Centennial Campus Magnet Middle School, calling with your weekly message. This message can be found on our website.
It was good to see so many of you that braved the rain to come to pick up your next round of materials needed. These materials are available at school during the hours of 7:30 and 3:00. Please be reminded that our building is closed to visitors but all business can be done outside our doors. Also, if you are on Plan B and did not pick up your carpool tag and plan on carpooling, please stop by and pick that up as well.
We are working quickly to prepare for our return to school. I recognize there are so many communications coming towards you throughout the week. Please continue to watch carefully for communications from Wake County Public Schools and from our school as well. We are grateful for your patience through this most unusual time.
We have received many questions about making the decision for the second semester into Virtual Academy. Please watch for a survey to come soon to complete for this information from the district.
Transportation information on bus routes should be available tomorrow, Monday, found in your student’s PowerSchools account.
As we plan for our first cohort of students on November 9th, we will continue to communicate with our families that are on the Plan B. All Plan B families should have received an email last week on October 5th sharing the cohort rotation your student is on. If you are unsure of that rotation, please call our school. Remember you are either on A/1, B/2 or C/3 rotation.
As we get closer, we will send a mailing with further information that will be needed for preparation of those first days.
This is the last week of our quarter, all missing work must be completed. Reach out to your teachers or our grade level counselors directly if you need support.
This Wednesday the 21st is Career Day. These activities will be held asynchronously, which means no live sessions, and can be found in your student’s advisory on that day. Please be sure to have your student sign in to be counted attended for the day. We look forward to exploring the many opportunities for careers that our students can consider.
Wednesday is also anti-bullying National Unity Day. We encourage all to wear orange to recognize this important message.
Our counselors will also hold office hours on that day from noon to 1:00 for any students that would like to connect. Log information for these virtual office hours can be found in their advisory Google classroom.
Our students will hear about this year’s Arts Reflection Contest in Advisory tomorrow. This PTSA sponsored experience is a wonderful way for students to express themselves through various art forms. Look at the PTSA website for further information with the Theme “I matter because…”
Despite an unusual start to the 20-21 school year, rest assured that we will be producing a yearbook to document this memorable school year for your students. Yearbooks MUST be pre-ordered and will be on sale through December 18th. If you order by October 23rd, this Friday, you will get the best pricing and your student will be able to choose 4 free icons to personalize their yearbook. Order information can be found on our website.
Our PTSA is holding their next meeting this Wednesday at 3:00 virtually. More information found at their website. Please join us as we plan our next activities.
Thank you for your continual support of Centennial Campus Magnet where we H.O.W.L. with Red Wolf Pride. Have a great week. Stay well and stay safe
