Principal's Weekly Message 8-2
Hello this is Kathryn Hutchinson principal at Centennial Campus Magnet Middle School calling with your weekly message. This message can be found on our website.
Our staff has spanned out across Wake County to deliver and visit 575 students this past month. You made our month with so many smiles and welcoming conversations and opportunities to begin to connect. If you did not receive our packet at your door, please reach out to the school to ensure we have your correct address.
We are busily preparing for the opening of school. All families that applied to the Virtual Academy should expect an email communication tomorrow to confirm your application process. If you do not by Tuesday morning, please reach out to the school directly.
As we prepare for school, our staff has compiled a Frequently Asked Question document for our families. This can be found on our website beginning Monday. We will continue to add information as we proceed into the beginning of the school year.
We have scheduled a Drive Thru Meet the Teacher event along with your material pick up time for Monday, August 17th. More details to come. Please mark your calendar.
Our Open House this year will be virtual and is scheduled for Thursday, August 20th.
The first two weeks of school will be an opportunity to orient our students, help them and you become familiar with online learning and the tools we will be using this year. It is important to begin to prepare your student for a more rigorous schedule. We will be following our regular school hours of 7:30 to 2:15. Preparing your students by setting up a space designated for learning and being mindful of their schedule will be important. I also encourage you to ensure your student knows and understands how to log into their school email and Wake ID. We will primarily be using the Google Classroom platform for learning.
Our PTSA is hard at work getting things in order for this different kind of school year. And we need all the help we can get! As mentioned last week, we have several committee openings that are vital to our work to live the mission of supporting our students and teachers.
Also please consider joining our PTSA this year. It is open to anyone including grandparents! Membership cost is $12 for family members and friends and $6 for students. These dues are important for us to continue to stay in membership with the National PTA and also support our programing for the school year. These programs include Cultural Arts (Including virtual experiences), spirit events and opportunities to support staff. Please sign up on our PTSA website under the membership tab. There are scholarships available as well. Please contact the PTSA president at email@example.com for any questions.
The PTSA website can be found off a link from the Centennial Campus Magnet website. While there, also sign up for their many avenues of communication.
The student supply kits ordered in the spring arrive soon. These kits will be available on our Drive Thru Meet the Teacher/Material Pick up event. PTSA is looking for other creative ways for you to skip shopping at stores for school supplies and support our PTSA as well. More information to come.
Thank you for your support of Centennial Campus Magnet where we H.O.W.L. with Red Wolf Pride. Have a great week. Stay well and stay safe.
