Principal's Weekly Message 10-13
Weekly Message 10-13-2019
Hello this is Kathryn Hutchinson principal at Centennial Campus Magnet Middle School calling with your weekly message. This message can be found on our website along with our Learning Snapshot.
We look forward to welcoming all of our students back to learning this second quarter and expect to see their maturity and attendance to learning grow even more. We are proud of watching many of our young leaders begin to connect in our community and seek opportunities to build our school up in such a positive way. Thank you, families, for your support in our efforts.
It is time to find those Box tops that you have around and send them in so our school can receive funds and support. This simple task can help our PTSA. We will be collecting Box Tops during the month of October. Please have your student bring them to the office.
Fall pictures will be Wednesday this week. All students will have their fall picture taken. If students are interested in purchasing pictures, information will be sent home from their homeroom teachers.
Our counselors are hosting a Magnet and Early College Information event just for our students this Thursday evening starting at 5:45 to 7:00. Come and explore the options for your student as they begin to look at what high school to attend. Staff from many of these schools will be in attendance to ask direct questions to. Early college applications begin this week on the 15th.
Report cards will be coming home with your student on Friday. Please take time to review and discuss with your young leaders what goals they want to make for this second quarter of learning.
Our first school dance of the year is coming on October 25th. Tickets won’t go on sale until the week of the dance. But it is important that our students understand that their positive leadership skills must be at work in order to attend. Students with behavior infractions that result in specific consequences will not have the opportunity to participate in the after-school dance. Please connect with your student on the goals for the second quarter of the year to not only accomplish strong work ethic but also support their positive behaviors as well.
The school dance permission forms will be offered to students this week. Please remember that students must have this form completed by a parent or guardian before purchasing a ticket. Tickets will be sold by our PTSA the week of October 21st. See the PTSA website for the sign up for an opportunity to help sell tickets or help work at the dance. The school dance is on October 25th. No tickets will be sold on the day of the dance.
The Centennial Student Support Team will be offering a depression awareness and suicide prevention training to all 7th grade students in their elective classes the week of October 21st. Signs of Suicide is an evidence-based program proven to be successful at increasing help-seeking by students concerned about themselves or a friend. Informative letters will go home with students on Monday, October 14th. If you do NOT wish for your student to participate in the SOS Middle School program, please turn in the opt out section of the letter to our front office or your student’s homeroom teacher by Friday, October 18th. If you have any questions please contact the school counselor.
Thank you for your support of Centennial Campus Magnet where we H.O.W.L. with Red Wolf Pride. Have a great week!
