Principal's Weekly Message 2-10
Hello this is Kathryn Hutchinson principal at Centennial Campus Magnet Middle School calling with your weekly message. This message and our Learning Snapshot for the week can be found on our website.
Our Family Summit night is this Wednesday, February 13th at 6:00. This community event is important for our families to attend. Our staff will all be present to connect and share. We will offer many topics for our families including having the Athens Drive Principal, Mr. Mares, join a session to talk about preparing your students to transition to high school. We will have an engaging evening for all parents. There will be some refreshments in our Cafeteria starting at 5:30. More details can be found on our website.
Our book fair is also here this week. We have an online opportunity to shop as well for books. This tool also allows parents to put money into an account so students can purchase at school. This removes the student from having to carry money. The online opportunity is optional and of course, we look forward to seeing our readers visit the fair. Please see the PTSA and Ms. Calvo for opportunities to volunteer for this fun event. We still need many. We will have an extended shopping day on Wednesday, our family summit night.
Any 7th or 8th grade student interested in playing spring sports at Dillard Drive Middle should attend the information meeting on Wednesday, February 13th from 3:00-4:45 in the auditorium at Dillard. The sports for the spring are: boys' soccer, boys'/ girls' track & girls' softball. Students should take their completed paperwork and physical forms to this meeting. Specific tryout dates will be announced at the meeting.
The annual Hoops for Heart event will take place on Wednesday, February 20th. Students are asked to raise/donate $5 to participate. Students will play in various basketball related activities during both of their X-House classes that day. Students can donate (online, cash or checks made payable to CCMMS with H4H in the memo line). All donations are due by Wednesday, February 13th.
I would like to remind everyone that this Friday, the 15th, is an early release day. Students will be dismissed at 11:45.
Our PTSA is selling valentine-grams and tokens for students to have delivered to their friends. Stop by any morning this week to purchase these items.
Our Peer Leaders, Student Council and Boys' groups are all working together requesting donation items to Healing Transitions, a place of recovery for men, and Wake Relief Food Pantry, an agency that provides food for those in need, starting Monday through the 8th of March. Please see our school website for the detailed items being collected via grade level and teams to see who brings in the most items for these community organizations.
Thank you for your support of Centennial Campus Magnet where we H.O.W.L. with Red Wolf Pride. Have a great week!
