Child Nutrition staff man emergency shelters
When Hurricane Florence made landfall on the North Carolina coast on September 14, many coastal residents evacuated to Wake County where WCPSS high schools served as emergency shelters. At the height of the hurricane, more than 1,000 people were in six high schools used as shelters. Rikki Stephens and Una Lynch of WCPSS Child Nutrition Services managed the kitchen at Knightdale High feeding evacuees.
Tabitha Perry and Jennifer Ozkurt managed the kitchen at Garner High feeding evacuees.
