Family Updates- Oct. 9th, 2022
Greetings, Lynn Road Families! I hope that everyone has had an amazing weekend. Please do not forget that tomorrow, Monday, October 10th, is a Teacher Workday. There will be no school for students.
We look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday and having another great week of learning and growing!
THANK YOU to everyone who volunteered, donated, shared, or attended this amazing event! We raised more for our Lynn Road Elementary School PTA in one event than ever before! The total has already surpassed the $16,000 goal through online donations alone! Final numbers will be shared soon. We will also share a link to upload fun run pictures for the yearbook. If you have any feedback, or ideas to share, that could help us plan for next year, please share to email@example.com.
Curriculum Night is scheduled for this Thursday, October 13th from 5p - 7p. This is a great opportunity to hear from your child’s teachers and learn more about what your child is learning in their classes this school year. You will also be provided with resources that can be used at home to support your child’s growth. Sessions will occur in 30 minute increments (5:00p, 5:30p, 6:00p, and 6:30p). Please note that you will also have an opportunity to attend a session hosted by our Elective Teachers to hear more about their curriculum as well. We look forward to seeing you and sharing what your child will be learning this school year.
AIG Meeting - We will also have an Academically & Intellectually Gifted (AIG) Meeting prior to Curriculum Night. This meeting will be hosted by our AIG teacher, Ms. Lamm from 4:30 - 5:00 in room 1610. During this meeting, she will share information in regards to K - 2 Early Identification and 3rd - 5th grade AIG services. Anyone interested in hearing more is welcome to attend this meeting as well.
October is Bullying Prevention Month. Throughout this month, students are learning more about what bullying entails and what they can do to help prevent the spread of bullying in our schools and in their communities. The signature event of Bullying Prevention Month is Unity Day, which is Wednesday, October 19th. Please join us by wearing orange on this day to symbolize us uniting for kindness, courage, and inclusion in an effort to prevent students from getting bullied.
Previous Weeks’ Updates (Link to Family Updates):
If you have not already registered for the PTA, please do so. Membership for the 2022-2023 school year is $10 for an individual and $15 for a family (any 2 adults). Use THIS LINK to complete your registration.
Please make sure that you send your child to school with a reusable water bottle. This is very important so that they remain hydrated throughout the day and especially during recess. Students will have opportunities during the day to fill their water bottles. If your child does not have a water bottle, we will provide water cups during lunch.
The safety of our students and staff is of the utmost importance. As such, please note that all visitors will be required to state their name and purpose for visiting Lynn Road before being admitted into the building. This will occur using our intercom system. Additionally, all visitors will be required to show ID, sign in, and wear a visitor’s pass.
WakeTogether Tutoring Program
Lynn Road will have the support of WakeTogether tutors this school year. The focus of this tutoring program will be to strengthen literacy by increasing reading fluency and reading confidence. The program is looking for additional tutors. If you are interested in applying to volunteer as a tutor for this program, please visit the WakeTogether Website.
