Lessons and Activities for Disability History and Awareness Month 2020

Oct. 2, 2020

Disability History and Awareness Month 2020

Special Education Services continues to be committed to facilitating and growing recognition of Disability History & Awareness Month for the Wake County Public School System.

In line with these unprecedented times, this year's theme is:

Learning * Connecting * Adapting * Together

We are excited to continue inspiring informative district-wide conversations with the Calendar of Quotes, weekly lessons, and activities to promote common language and common understanding. To facilitate this annual districtwide learning experience this year, there are synchronous and asynchronous opportunities as well as flexible engagement for virtual and in-person instruction.

Along with our familiar processes, we've also produced a Disability History and Awareness Month 2020 Highlight Reel of prior artifacts created by WCPSS schools in recent years, as well as Feature Stories, which offer inspirational and encouraging stories and videos to increase public awareness and respect for students and adults with disabilities.

Thank you for all you do to support students of all abilities. If you have any questions, please email Velinda Prince (vprince@wcpss.net).
