We want to provide you with an update regarding the email we sent yesterday.
We regret to share that due to unexpected driver absences, some students do not have an assigned driver. We are working diligently with our transportation vendor to help them recruit and hire drivers to fill these new vacancies. Resolving this situation is our top priority.
Parents will be notified as soon as a driver is identified for their child’s route. We do not know exactly how long it will take to rectify this situation, but we estimate by next week. We will let you know if this estimate changes.
It is our expectation that our transportation vendors provide safe and reliable transportation. We know that having a positive ride to school is critical to having an effective day of learning. We also know you expect prompt communication from us regarding your child’s transportation.
These expectations were not met, and we’re investigating to understand why and how this occurred. We are extremely sorry for the frustration this has caused your family. Please know that we are exploring all solutions to resolve this situation as quickly as possible.
WCPSS will reimburse parents for mileage at the standard federal reimbursement rate if you are able to transport your child to and from school. We’ll provide details for requesting reimbursement in coming days.
