Trailblazer Times 5/31
Trailblazer Times May 31st, 2021
Happy Monday and Happy Memorial Day! Thank you so much to all of our military Trailblazer families. Please take the time to talk with your children about what we are remembering, and who we are honoring today. We are grateful to those who made the ultimate sacrifice to keep our country safe.
Track assignment postcards were mailed last week
Track assignment postcards were mailed out last week. If you do not receive your postcard by June 4th, please contact Lora Blankenship at lblankenship@wcpss.net to verify your mailing address. Please note that while we made every effort to return everyone to their original track assignment (and honor track change requests), some changes were necessary to balance class sizes. We truly appreciate your understanding and support! MTYR 21-22 calendar.
If your child will not be returning to Banks Road ES next year, please contact the school and ask for Ms. Blankenship, We are working on finalizing staffing assignments and we will need an accurate student number in order to do so.
Mark your calendar- Meet the teacher is July 6th!
On Tuesday, July 6th, we will host "Meet the Teacher" for the 21-22 school year. This is for all tracks and all grades and will be in an in-person event. Please note that we will be staggering the event to allow for social distancing and smaller groups of people. Students with the last name of A-H are invited to come from 4:00-4:30. Last names I-Q are from 4:45-5:15 and R-Z are from 5:30-6:00. This is an informal/free-flowing meeting where you and your child can drop in, say hello, and see the classroom. Masks are required for everyone entering the building- regardless of vaccination status.
4th quarter interim reports were sent last week
If your child did not receive an interim, please contact your classroom teacher.
EOG testing is June 8th-June 17th
We will begin our EOG testing for 3rd, 4th and 5th-grade students on June 8th and testing will conclude on June 17th. Please help your student do their best by:
- making sure they get a good night's rest
- rescheduling any appointments that would cause them to miss school, be late, or get checked out early during testing
- making sure they eat breakfast or that they arrive early enough to school to get breakfast (remember breakfast and lunch are free for all students!)
- telling them to take their time and do their best
- if your child is in K-2, please remind them that other students will be taking tests and it is important for them to be respectful, responsible, and safe at all times
Hotspots
Please note that we will need all WCPSS hotspots returned at the end of the school year. We will send out a list of other items that will need to be returned and the process for doing so in next week's Trailblazer Times. Students who are remaining in WCPSS will keep their assigned Chromebooks.
Free lunch for all students continues in the 21-22 school year
Breakfast and lunch will be available at no cost to students for the 2021-22 school year. While the district may be able to offer free meals to all students, it is very important for eligible parents to complete a meal benefits application because this data enables schools to obtain funding to provide other important educational resources to benefit students. Other benefits that are issued directly to families that have applied and are eligible for meal benefits may also be available (such as the P-EBT cash benefit). Parents can complete a meal benefits application online at myschoolapps.com. Paper applications also are available at all schools. More: www.wcpss.net/free-reduced-meals.

Trailblazer Times 31 de mayo de 2021
¡Feliz Lunes y Feliz Día de los Caídos! Muchas gracias a todas nuestras familias militares Trailblazer.
