Greetings, this is Dr. Tracy Purvis, Principal of Banks Road, with the announcements for the coming weeks.

PRELIMINARY RETENTION NOTIFICATION:
The Wake County Public School System requires that parents of elementary school students receive notification that their child is a possible retention candidate, no later than the middle of the third marking period. Your child’s teacher will share with you the academic progress of your child if he/she is a potential retention candidate and discuss the plan in place to give your child academic support. You will also receive a letter from me if your child is a possible retention candidate. Final decisions about retention will be made at the end of the school year.
TRACK CHANGE REQUESTS for 2019-2020:
If you are interested in a track change for next school year, please contact Mrs. Lora Blankenship at 919-890-7333 Ext. 20219 or email her your request at lblankenship@wcpss.net. Track Change Requests acceptance started Monday, January 28, 2019 and will end on Friday, February 15, 2019. All requests must be in by this date to be considered for the 2019-2020 school year. Decisions on track changes will be made in the spring once all class size information has been considered. You will be notified by the school with the results of your requests. Please call the main office (919-890-7333) for assistance if you are unable to reach Mrs. Blankenship.

Our Boomers will perform in Pieces of Gold 2019 on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium. Come out and support our Trailblazers and Mrs. LaPlace!
2019-2020 KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION and ORIENTATION:
Welcome Class of 2032! All kindergarten students and rising kindergartners can now register online!
Kindergarten Registration for the 2019-2020 school year began on January 7, 2019. Your child must be 5 years old on or before August 31 of the current school year to attend kindergarten next year. In accordance with state law, gifted children who are age 4 by April 16 us with our track assignment process. Visit https://www.wcpss.net/Domain/56 for more information.
Banks Road Elementary School will have our 2019 -2020 Kindergarten Orientation for parents on Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 6:00pm – 7:30pm. We look forward to meeting all our New Trailblazer Families!
READvolution Update 2-4-19:
Please return all lunch selection forms as soon as possible if you have not done so already.
This information is needed to make sure every student has the lunch they would like upon their return from the trip.
Our school read over 2,020 books we were entered in the random drawing to attend the Cool School Field Trip on Monday, February 25, 2018 from 10:30am – 12:30pm sponsored by the Hurricanes. We were one of the schools selected to attend the trip! Our Trailblazers are going to have an amazing time! We will have more information to share with you as we get closer to the event. This is going to be an exciting trip for everyone!
