Theatre 4 Change spent time with 6th graders recently. Theatre 4 Change is a dynamic, interactive workshop that utilizes theatre games, scenes, and small group exercises to discuss alcohol and substance abuse with Wake County students in grade 6.
They focused on the topics of alcohol and substance abuse and navigating peer pressure, highlighted the importance of using positive coping strategies, making the right choices under difficult circumstances, and methods of stress management. It is important that these discussions continue in the home and students were encouraged to share the ideas that emerged during the workshop with their family.
Included below are some ideas for further discussion.
· What would you do if a friend offered you alcohol?
· How hard is it to say no to a friend?
· Have you ever done something you didn’t want to do just to fit in?
