January 26, 2024: STEM Land and Mad Science

Mad Science After School Offering

Mad Science is coming to Weatherstone Elementary! In this introductory STEM program, kids explore a variety of introductory topics and learn about the wonders of both the life and physical sciences. They explore themes and answer questions like “What makes your hair stand up?”, “Is it a magnet or magic?”, and “Just what are carbs, anyway?” See more in this fun video!

Mad Science will be offering an afterschool program on Tuesdays starting February 27. You may register at: https://triangle.madscience.org/parents-details-a.aspx?regItemSessionID=406886

PTA General Meeting

This meeting will be held on Saturday February 3rd at 1pm in the Gym (during STEM Land). We will have a few updates, along with a special guest, Mad Science, who will be doing a Demo for us around 1:10pm. All are welcome to attend.

Penny Wars

Save your change and get ready for a week of fun competition between grade levels. Pennies and bills are positive points. Nickels, dimes and quarters are negative points. Whichever grade gets the most points wins the war, and the Penny Wars trophy! Will last year’s second graders keep the trophy or will we have a new champion? Gather your change because the war starts this Monday!

Yearbook

Have you ordered your yearbook yet? The price increases on January 26, so place your order soon at http://jostensyearbooks.com.

Be sure to create and purchase your 5th grade yearbook recognition ad before the deadline of January 31st.  You must complete the ad before you can purchase it, and time is running out. Information about 5th grade ads is available at https://jostensadservice.com/student.

Positivity Project (P2)

The strength of this week was Social Intelligence. Next week is Forgiveness. What does this mean? You accept that other people make mistakes and choose not to feel upset about it. Visit the PTA website to learn more!
