Virtual Academy Enrollment for 2021-22 School Year

WCPSS will offer a Virtual Academy for students for the 2021-22 school year. Families who wish to enroll their students in VA for next school year should register using this link: VA Registration

Please note the following highlights:

EOG Testing for VA Families

The form linked here (WES VA EOG Family Participation Survey) is required for all 3-5 VA Families ONLY to complete in order to share your intentions with testing. Please submit this form by Wednesday, 4/28.

As we approach the end of this unusual school year, we would like to share information on the expectations for students to participate in end-of-year state testing. The Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) is expecting all students to take the following tests as is required by federal and state laws:

  • End-of-grade tests in Reading (grades 3-8), Mathematics (grades 3-8), and Science (grades 5 and 8)

Students can only take these tests at school. We are using the flexibility provided by NCDPI in expanding the testing window as needed, along with appropriate health and safety protocols, to ensure that state testing can occur safely. Families participating in the Virtual Academy will be able to send their children to the school building on the day(s) set aside for testing and will be receiving information from school as to how that process will work.

Remote Learning Day Change

  • The Remote Learning Asynchronous Day that was scheduled for 5/5 has been made a regular day of school.
  • The week of May 3-7 will be a full week of school.
  • Thursday, 5/13 has now become a Remote Learning Asynchronous Day.

Spring Book Fair Information

Books Can Take You Anywhere: Scholastic Book Fair  May 3rd - 14th

Students who are here at school will have an opportunity to preview the fair and create a wish list to bring home to families to share on April 30 and May 3 & 4th.   They will then have an opportunity to purchase books from May 6th - 14th during a scheduled visit with their class.   Due to safety restrictions, we will not be able to allow parents to join their child during their buying time as we have done in years past.

We ask that you set up an eWallet so that students have a contactless way to pay for their books.  We will not be accepting cash this year.  You can find information on how to set up your child's eWallet at our schools fair website at:
