Remote Learning Updates

As you have already heard the news, we will not be able to come back to school as the WES community this school year.  However, we are so proud of the work the staff and families are doing to support the academic, social, and emotional needs of the students.  While we may not be able to gather together in person our virtual Explorer Family is staying strong by supporting each other through this change.

Technology Support

The WES staff has worked tirelessly over the past month to make sure that all WES students have access to both a device as well as the Internet in order to support remote learning.  As of Friday we have distributed over 150 Chromebooks and 37 WiFi Hotspots.  If your family is in need of technology support please reach out to your child's teacher, Mrs. Whalen (Media Specialist) or Mrs. Zoller (STEM Cooridnator) and they will make sure to help you or your student.

Social & Emotional Support

We also recognize that the social and emotional needs of your children and family are important at this time.  We are continuing to support the Positivity Project Remotely each week with daily video lessons for our students.  Our amazing counselors, school psychologist and social worker are able to support you during this time.  Our counselor have also posted weekly lessons to support the students with the content that they would have covered in their whole class lessons.  Their contact information is on our website or you can send your child's teacher a message who can also get you in touch with one of them.

5th Grade News

5th grade students completed the 'Class of 2020' tile mosaic class gift before school was closed due to the pandemic. The two panels will be hung along the 5th grade hallway this Fall.

While we do not know the format for the 5th Grade Recognition Ceremony at this time plans are still being made to honor our students as they prepare for middle school.

5th grade parents, please send a kindergarten photo of your child to the email address, Please put your child's first and last name in the subject header. A generous 5th grade volunteer has agreed to make the slide show.
