Positivity Project: Supporting Others When They Struggle

This week we will be exploring one of the mindsets of the Positivity Project. Our focus will be toward the way stress in managed. When a conflict arises, we tend to do one of two things – we either come together and bond as a family, community, or country, or we fall apart and disperse into our own cocoons.

That can’t happen, because we need each other at times of distress. The human race is unique in that we can communicate and empathize with one another, especially during hard times.

We have to support one another, because there are times you need me and the times I need you. Regardless of how strong we each may be, we all need help. This is a key tenet of The Positivity Project’s Other People Matter Mindset.

Let’s Warm Some Hearts ….and Heads, Hands and Toes!

Let’s help others stay warm this winter by donating NEW winter hats, gloves, mittens and socks to Note In The Pocket.  Last Day to donate has been extended to this Tuesday 1/28.

Sponsor Spotlight:

Each week leading up to our STEM Carnival we’d like to take a moment to thank our sponsors. If you are in need of any of their services please consider using their company. Make sure to tell them you’re from Weatherstone and thank them!

This weeks sponsors are:

Grade Power Learning - GradePower Learning® uses cognitive learning techniques to help children develop more effective ways of thinking, concentrating, listening and remembering. Our cognitive approach to learning, designed by educational experts, is based on proven scientific research into how children actually learn. Learning is not about
memorizing facts. It’s about knowing, really understanding, as well as how to integrate and retain new information.

Canton Eye Level Learning Centers - Choosing the right learning center is an important first step when you want to reinforce your understanding of a specific subject. At Canton Eye Level Learning Center, our instructors are here to improve your overall comprehension, and we welcome students of every age and expertise. We'll do what it takes to accommodate your needs and our staff are ready to consult with you about your goals.

Silent Auction:

Our silent auction is gearing up again this year with lots of great items! Disney tickets, orthodontist packages, restaurants, summer camps and more! Bidding starts this Friday, January 31st! Check out all the great items we have this year at: 2020 Silent Auction. Set up your account so you can be ready to bid.

Weatherstone Elementary Penny War! January 30th – February 8th

Put your spare change toward a great cause. All proceeds from our Penny War fundraiser will go towards supporting Weatherstone Elementary.

Pennies are “positive.” Here’s how it works:

  • Containers will be located in the school lobby during arrival
  • Each penny counts as one positive point for YOUR grade level
  • Each silver coin counts as negative points for OTHER grade levels. In other words, dropping any money other than a penny (including dollars) in another grade level’s bucket takes points from their total
  • For example, dropping a quarter in another grade levels bucket will deduct 25 points from their total
  • At the end of the STEM Carnival on February 8th, all change/points will be tallied and the grade with the most points will win a pizza party

Backpack Buddies at WES

Did you know there are students at WES that go hungry on the weekends? Did you also know that our school community helps these students through The Backpack Buddies Program? Food is sent home with those students in the program each Friday. In order to keep this program running we are requesting more food or monetary donations. Your help is greatly needed and appreciated right now! Items can be dropped off in the front office in the bin next to the sign in computer. Please donate if you are able. Thank you so much for supporting our Weatherstone students in need!
