Positivity Project Character Strength: Prudence

Prudence is the ability to do the right thing, at the right time, for the right reason. Leveraging this strength helps a person set goals, make plans, and have the discipline to accomplish them. It's a future-oriented way of thinking that helps a person set goals, make plans, and have the discipline to accomplish them. It is cognitive –more a strength of the head than of the heart.
Prudence supports effective individual self-management. Whether aspiring for an athletic record, academic grade, or purchasing a car, foresight and planning are necessary. However, long-term goals – even with a plan – can only be obtained by overcoming those impulses and desires that steer you away from your goals. On a group level, prudence is crucial – especially today, as shortsightedness has crept into many parts of life. We need leaders who can think long-term and create the world we want our descendants to inherit. This is why the Roman senator and historian Tacitus said, “Forethought and prudence are the proper qualities of a leader.”

Thank you to all the parents that have been helping out in the media center first thing in the morning. Ms. Whalen greatly appreciates your time and help getting books checked in and back to the shelves for future readers. Please use the following link to sign up for time in the media center after break. Sign up for as many times as you are available.

Are you YETI to READ?

Our Winter Break reading challenge has begun. Winter Break Reading BINGO is available in the media center. Have your child color in each square of the READING BINGO card as they complete new and exciting ways of reading while trying to get BINGO. Can you fill the entire card? Those students who complete the entire card over break should stop by the media center to have their picture taken for a display outside the media center doorways. Here is a link to this years WINTER BREAK READING BINGO.
