Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) Requests

Are you considering Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) for your child? SSA is the practice of assigning a student to a higher grade level than is typical, given the student's age, for the purpose of providing access to appropriately challenging learning opportunities. SSA is an accelerative practice that allows students to show mastery of the content of a course without having taken the course. For example, a parent could nominate his/her child to skip a grade level of content in either Language Arts OR Mathematics.

Any student currently enrolled in WCPSS during the test request window is eligible for testing, K-5.  If you would like to request SSA testing for your child, please watch the video and review all considerations.

ALL test requests must be received between March 20 – March 24.  You can complete the Google Form to request testing.  You can request a paper copy by emailing Leah McClellan.  Paper copies are also available in the front office.  Paper test requests can be sent to school with your child and given to his/her homeroom teacher.

Please contact Leah McClellan at lmcclellan@wcpss.net with any questions regarding Single Subject Acceleration.
