September 8th Update
Hello Middle Creek families,
I hope this email finds you doing well! Last week completed our first week of our daily schedule for remote learning. Last week was a new adventure for all of us and you were amazing! Thank you for supporting your child with logging on to their meetings and completing their assignments. While there were struggles and growing pains for all of us, the week ended on a high note thanks to your continued support of our school community. Please know that we are here to support both you and your child as we navigate this road of remote learning together.
Below, you will find information about iStation Assessments, joining the PTA, and our September General PTA meeting.
Your child will take the iStation online Reading Assessment. The iStation online Reading Assessment is a formative/diagnostic benchmark assessment that must be given three times a year to comply with Read to Achieve legislation. iStation assessments are not for grades- they are for informing instructional practices to better support reading growth and proficiency. The assessment is adaptive; meaning it will adjust the questions to find the child’s reading proficiency level. Teachers will use this data to inform their reading instruction. Please do not assist your child on this assessment- teachers need accurate reading data to best support your child’s reading development. Please read the information provided in the links below:
Joining the PTA:
A message from the PTA: A new and in many ways unusual school year has started and an important part of the Middle Creek family is our PTA. Middle Creek's PTA supports critical academic needs and builds a stronger, more inclusive school community. We invite you to join because we can do more together than apart and your support is important to us. It only takes a couple of minutes to sign up at https://bit.ly/joinMCESPTA.
Also, you can follow the PTA on Facebook (MiddleCreekPTA) and download the app in the App Store or Google Play (search for "Middle Creek Elementary") to stay informed.
General PTA Meeting:
Our general PTA meeting will be on Thursday, September 17th at 6:30 p.m. Our staff has prepared a presentation “A Parent’s Guide to Google Classroom” to share with parents. A Google Meeting link will be shared with all MCES families on Thursday, September 17th.
I’d like to take a moment to celebrate the birth of Mrs. Tu’s (our art teacher) baby over the weekend. We wish she and her family well as they welcome their baby boy. While Mrs. Tu is on leave, students will be provided with asynchronous learning opportunities that will consist of a video teaching a new skill and an art activity aligned to their grade level art standard. Mrs. Tu took time last week to share this information with all students during her live Google meetings. Students will be able to access their lesson for art each week through their Google classroom.
Thank you for your continued support of MCES and our wonderful staff. Our teachers and instructional assistants are committed to providing the best for our students. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any additional questions. Please continue to stay well and enjoy the cooler weather.
