Dear Middle Creek Families,

It is hard to believe that September is already here!  September is going to be a very busy month at MCES. Please see important information below regarding school-wide events.

Inclement Weather:  We are all anxiously awaiting to see the path hurricane Dorian will take as it moves along the east coast.  Please make sure your child’s classroom teacher knows how to send your student home should we have an early release due to inclement weather.  As a reminder, all after school events are cancelled when there is an early release due to inclement weather. This includes the YMCA. Any families that will plan to utilize carpool during an inclement weather early release will need to have a carpool number.  You will not be able to use your ‘17-’18 carpool number. All carpool families received new numbers on pink tags for the 19-20 school year. Please contact Ms. Carson in our front office (919-773-9555 ext. 0)as soon as possible to receive your carpool number.

Thank you!: A special thank you to volunteers who have helped to beautify our campus!  Members of a local F3 group volunteered their time on August 26th to clean the shrubs by our front doors and power wash our entryway.  Thank you to John Bailey, Coach Robinson, Shaun Brothers, Cory Taylor and his son. In addition, we had some volunteers paint our teacher collaboration room and our conference room to give it a fresh look!  Thank you to Alyssa Owens and Nadine Fairbrother for your help.

EOG Test Scores: EOG test scores will be mailed to families in mid-September.

Carpool:  All cars coming through afternoon carpool must have a carpool number on pink paper.  If anyone comes through carpool without a carpool number, you will be asked to park to come in and check out your child.  If you need a carpool number, please call the front office at 919-773-9553 etx. 0 and Ms. Carson will be happy to assist you.

Lego Robotics, Soccer, and Lacrosse!: An important part of providing a well-rounded school experience is the opportunity for extracurricular activities.  Starting in October, we are excited to add three new opportunities for our students. We will be offering (with a fee) Lego Robotics, Soccer, and Lacrosse.  Please look for these flyers coming home with your children for more information. These sessions will start the first week of October.

Movie Night:  Due to the impending forecast, movie night has been cancelled and will be rescheduled.  Stay tuned for details.

Book Fair:  Our annual Scholastic Book fair .  Our PTA has planned some great activities for you to join in on the fun!  They will host two family breakfast opportunities on September 25 and October 2.  The book fair will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 8:20 a.m. on these days for you to come in with your child/children and purchase books.  In addition, our family night will be on September 26 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. During family night, each grade level will be providing opportunities for you and your child/children to make an activity and learn how to use it at home  to support with reading skills at home. These activities will be available from 5:30-6:30 during the evening of family night.

September 30th Teacher Workday:  We will have a school-wide teacher workday on Monday, September 30th.  There will be no school for students on this day.

Church/Civic Group Partnerships: We are looking to connect with a local church or civic group for some beautification projects on campus. If you know of someone interested in partnering with our school, please contact Mrs. Miller at cmiller6@wcpss.net.

If you have any questions, concerns or kudos, please feel free to contact me (919-773-9555 or cmiller6@wcpss.net). Thank you for your support of Middle Creek Elementary.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Miller
