Dear Dragonfly Families,

This was our first week of school with all grades on campus! Thank you for your patience as we welcomed our Kindergartners to school this week. The number of families using carpool has increased this year. As students adjust to being back in school and new students learn their numbers and procedures, the process will continue to improve.

See below for important reminders and have a great weekend! ~Dr. Sykes

Birthday Celebrations:

  • We celebrate every student (even those who have summer birthdays) via our morning news on or close to their birthdays. Classroom teachers also recognize students in their homerooms.

  • If you’d like to help your child celebrate at school feel free choose from an option below. We do this minimize disruption to instruction and honor students. If your student does not recognize or celebrate birthdays/holidays, please let the teacher know so we can accommodate:

    • Send a pre-packaged store-bought snack (no cakes, no individual cupcakes, or any homemade treat). Check with the teacher first for allergies that may be in the classroom.

    • Send in a special item that students can use for school such as special erasers, cool pencils, crayons.

    • Bring or have lunch with your student.

Late Arrivals/Early Check-outs

  • Please be mindful that students miss instruction when they are consistently brought to school late or picked up early via carpool. This time adds up throughout the year and can lead to learning loss. Thank you for making sure they are here by 9:15 (or soon after if the carpool line is long) and that they stay all day.

  • If students need to be picked up early for an appointment, etc., the cut-off time is 3:15pm. Please arrive by then. Anything after that causes disruption to our last instructional period and dismissal procedures.

Carpool

  • If you don't have a number and you are interested in using carpool, please request a number using the form provided in the carpool line.

  • Please also keep your carpool tag hanging until your child gets in the car so all staff can view your number.

  • Each student's carpool numbers are displayed on their backpack tag.

  • Any transportation changes need to be communicated prior to 12:00 for that day to the child's teacher via Talking Points. If a teacher does not respond, call the office.

  • Students can only be dropped off and picked up in the carpool lane. Do not use the middle school parking lot to walk over or drop them off in the bus loading area.

  • Stay alert and do not text and drive.

  • Please have students ready to get out of the car when it’s time for them to unload. When they are not ready (looking for items, etc) it delays the movement of the line.

  • If students are not able to buckle on their own, pull to an empty spot when it’s your turn to assist them. Staff are not allowed to buckle/unbuckle seats.

Reminders
