January 22, 2021 Friday Message

Dear Families,

Happy Friday!

It was a busy first week of 2nd semester, and I was able to visit many classes to see the great teaching and learning happening! Please take a moment to read the information below, and have a wonderful weekend!

~Dr. Sykes

NO Asynchronous Learning Day next Wednesday:

  • Students will long in to receive live instruction everyday next week.

Recognize a teacher/staff member:

  • YOU have a unique opportunity to “see” into your child’s classroom everyday! Please take a moment to give a teacher/staff member a shout-out for something amazing you’ve observed them doing using this link: https://forms.gle/WGdZMscMd28jRR856

Do you have a rising Kindergartener?

  • Dillard Drive Magnet Elementary is accepting applications for rising Kindergarteners to participate in our Spanish Immersion program beginning next year 2021-2022. Since you already have a student here at Dillard Drive, your Kindergartener can take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to learn how to read and write in English and Spanish as well as receive rigorous academic instruction. If you are interested and would like to know more information and details about our magnet theme and Spanish Immersion program, please click this link and complete the form: https://forms.gle/hH7K5x2xxtaJ6Vig8
  • We will be in touch with you soon! If you have immediate questions, please email our magnet coordinator, Carrie McKeown at cmckeown@wcpss.net.

iStation Testing

  • We are in the middle of our Middle-of-Year Benchmark testing with iStation for Kindergarten thru 5th grade. The window is open until January 31st. That means the students have only one more week to complete their ISIP Benchmark test. Please encourage your student to login to iStation to complete their assessment if they haven’t already done so. Here is our school completion report as of today:

  • When the students are working in iStation on their assessment, they will see this blue button on their screen:. Once that button disappears, that means that they are finished with their assessment. Please note, it will not alert them that they have completed the assessment - the blue button will just disappear. Thank you for helping support us reach our 100% completion goal!

Counselor Appreciation Week- February 1st-5th

  • We are so thankful for Mrs. Guillen and Ms. Knight, as they have been essential in supporting all of our students, families, and staff. Please take time with your student/s to think of ways to celebrate our amazing counselors during the first week of February.
